Should we be worried?

More and more, I am seeing privacy issues and Google associated together in headlines worldwide. I understand Google is the big kid on the block and extremely innovative, and that makes them media fodder. But I am also seeing the words convictions and settlements associated with them. Not cool. Should we be worried about the viability of Android?

I think this conviction coming out of Italy is ridiculous. Google based in the US should not be under Italian courts at all, but still. Convicting them for something someone posted, our freedoms are being taken away. Google has a policy abotu what is allowed and not allowed. It is deplorable that an autistic boy was tormented and abused and video taped on top of that, but the fact that a court is holding google execs responsible is a joke.

They state that google did not remove the video fast enough. They say they are going to appeal it.

I don't see anything real about privacy issues with Google.

#1: The Italy thing is BS. That wasn't Google's fault at all.
#2: The rest of the stuff is just over search engine results and anti-trust BS with Microsoft. Hardly something we need to worry about.

The only real issue recently is the whole deal with Google Buzz, which IMO isn't even that big of a deal really.

Google already has your name, phone number, credit card information, contacts, email information, search habits and IP address. They know where you drive and how fast you do it. They know where you eat, where you shop and who's house you visit the most. They know how much porn you look at and what apps you use the most.....and this is just what is on your phone.

If Google is planning world domination, they already have the info for it.

Yep!
is that movie really worth watching?
i was thinking of downloading it tonight :)

1984? The book is much better.

Violated, ever heard of a chupacabra? How do you think they got each others number. No seriously, my wife deserves a medal for putting up with me and have learned from OTD. Have lurked for a while trying to learn, build up confidence and now I want to be like you fine people and help others. I was just wondering outloud about the black eyes and potentially how it could affect us end user swine.

I was cool until the Pron part. So, like... How judgemental are they??

So far, it looks like the only thing you might potentially have to worry about is posting illegal activities online. Apparently "We are not responsible for the actions of our users" has worn a bit thin....
