Root Virus

Is the "all things root" "guide" infected with something? When I try to post a comment in that forum, I get a blocked notice from my anti-virus. When I try to download one click root, I get a a blocked notice from my anti-virus. Both notices state the same thing...infection type "elf:Lootor-H [PUP]" What is going on? Obviously something is, I can post a message here, but won't let me there because of this. WTF?

That being said, anyone have this zip file they can send me? I'm not even going to attempt to use the link when I'm getting that warning. I've looked up the infection and have found nothing. I just find it strange since I downloaded one click root a while back with no problem, but deleted it. Now that I try it and the same with trying to post a message in the forum it's linked to, getting the same message. I wouldn't trust it for nothing. Anyone? I can't be the only one seeing this.

The All things Root Guides are locked threads and not available for posting by the community's users. They are a quick reference guide, or index if you will, to root related material for quick access and navigation of the All Things Root sub forum.

What antivirus do you have installed?

I just went into the guide and navigated around to a few threads and my Norton 360 didn't block anything. Very strange.

Have you tried to reboot your PC?

I'm looking for the one click root. I'm not trusting the download file from the site, since I'm getting warnings. I downloaded it before with no problems, but deleted it...procrastinating. Today, my anti-virus says it's bad. So yeah, I'm thinkin something isn't right and am not rooting my phone with it unless someone proves me wrong.

An antivirus may see a root kit as a virus, because it essentially is. It's a hack to break the bootloaders security, so you can gain access to your NAND partitions and load a custom recovery, etc.

I'm not 100% sure if this file isn't a virus or untrustworthy, but I went to the site and my Norton 360 didn't go off. Strange your antivirus did.

Yeah well, it scares me a little bit. Why could I download one click root before with no problem and now there is a red flag. I don't get why when I tried to post a message in the thread to download one click root, I get the same warning. I did not get any warning starting this thread or posting in it...just concerned.

I use Avast also and have no issues posting in that forum, I downloaded the file with no issues

I use Avast. I have downloaded one click root before with no problems with avast anti-virus running. I guess I was wrong on the forum. It's here http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/426160-one-click-root-now-available.html I tried posting a message there and get an infection warning and blocked. Same with the download for one click root. I click download the file for windows, asks me where to save, then bam.

The rooting files will be recognized as exploits by some antivirus, my NOD32 does this but it gives me the option to download if I want. I have never seen the title yours puts up, mine says Linux or Android exploit and that is all.

The only search results I get when I look for this link back to this thread so I don't think it is a virus and I don't think Avast would be the only one to have it in their definitions if it was.

The one click root is on PlayFulGod's server for his site UnleashedPrepaids. I assure you there is no virus connected to his site. Why your anti-virus went of when trying to post, I personally have no explanation for. But like Granite1 said the file was seen as one because it essentially is a "virus"
+1 and hence why I always host my stuff n only post links from my server. I know others like to dl n upload to other file share for ease of them remembering the url, but I only can speak for n back the links I post.

Also, in the works at UPP is the option to dl as a torrent. more details on that when it all goes live ;). We are working on it with pip (the ascend cm6 guy).

Speaking of Viruses..Which is the best anti virus for android phones ? or should i even bother installing one ? right now i have Eset Mobile Security

If you are not rooted then it shouldn't be a necessity, if you are there is an outside chance of infection but still unlikely. Eset is a good choice if you want to have one for peace of mind.

You think getjar is safe ?

Get jar is safe and also legit. The developers submit their apps to them (so its not piracy) and give them for free for publicity and also make a % of money. Nothing compared to what they make on the market tho. And when a dev want their app off of it its removed. You'll see a lot of apps come and go. But GetJar is safe. I used it a few times. And got TapaTalk just a couple days ago which I'm using now :D
