I'm kind of waffling on my Rezound and sort of having swappers remorse, mainly because:
- I really forgot how much I dislike sense. I am using launcherpro plus as I was on my dinc with cm7, but the notification area is really not my cup of tea. It lags at times and is just not nearly as slick as the ICS one nor the cm7 one.
- I'm reading various places that people were able to get Nexuses with screens that a) don't have much banding and b) do not show nearly as much the artifacts in black parts of videos. So there is some hope I would not have the main issue that made me swap for a Rezound in the first place.
- I honestly think the radio will get improved soon; perhaps not to the point that it's competitive with the rezound, but I think it'll improve.
- I miss ICS a lot. And the aesthetics of the Nexus a lot. The rezound feels comfortable in my hand and is a good form factor (slightly easier for me to type since I don't have giant hands), but I just don't like the looks nearly as much on the rezound.
At this point, since I exchanged the nexus for the rezound, I'm stuck with it, right? Has anyone ever successfully complained enough to get a 2nd exchange? Or return their swapped device, then waited 30 days and let their promo pricing reset?
If not, I thought I might try the following. If anyone has feedback on where I would be best off doing this (costco vs. best buy, etc), please let me know:
1. go buy a nexus full retail from costco or best buy
2. if the screen has issues, return until I get one that's satisfactory (this is where I'm not sure which store would be best?)
3. once I find a nexus with a screen that I find acceptable (which hopefully won't take more than 1 exchange), then I will sell my rezound on swappa/craigstlist/or similar.
Thoughts? I just am missing AOSP quite honestly. And having a completely unlocked device. I do really like the rezound. The radio performance is amazing. But at the same time, I'm having buyers (well, exchangers) remorse for a reason.
Regarding the video artifact stuff, can anyone who had this issue and swapped out their nexus and got a good one let me know what the manufactured date was on the good one (and old one if you know).
Unfortunately, I'm not rich or I would just buy the nexus outright and not even worry about the rezound.
What about if I exchange my phone with someone who has a Nexus. Would I be able to take it into Verizon (or wherever that person bought it) to exchange it for the "screen issue"? I mean, I could probably find someone right now to do a 1:1 swap of the rezound for the nexus, but then if that device's screen isn't good or there is some other issue I find out a week later, I'd be SOL.
Basically, I'm looking for a way to give the Nexus another shot. But I need to be able to swap without much hassle to get a screen that is acceptable to me. What's the best way to go about this, and if there's a way I can avoid basically buying it outright (minus what I can sell the Rezound for), that'd be even better.
Thanks in advance Nexicans
