a very interesting theory about the sensation.

does anyone here remember the wifi and signal issues the sensation had when it came out ?

Perhaps if i mentioned to wifi issue it would ring a bell: where you loose half your signal strength (boath wifi and radio) just by turning the device upside down or by holding it a strange way....ring a bell ?

The theory is about what htc did to fix it.

Please answer the following questions if you have a sensation or know the device very well:

is the entire back piece that fits over the batter metal underneath the plastic styling on to of the back piece ?

Do you get exellent network and wifi coverage ?
Say for example: better than the phones around you with the same carriear/service provider or what ever you call them in your country.

What ping's do you get when browsing the web ?

Ok...now to explain my theory: As was mentioned above, the sensation had some extream network issues, my theory is that they made the entire back piece to become the antenna/ areal of the phone to solve it.

Do you think my theory is plausible ?

I've had my Sensation since the day it was released here in the UK and the antenna's have been built into the rear casing since day 1 as far as i was aware

Wi-fi and mobile reception are both strong but i wouldn't say it particularly stands out as being better than other phones on the same network/wi-fi connection. It's on par with the HTC Desire i had previously so no complaints around signal from me.

Can't say i've ever noticed signal dropping out based on how i hold the phone either...

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here? The sensation had antennas built into it's case from the day it was launched.

I remember the death grip issue, but my phone has never suffered with it. I meant more with what you meant about the antenna being built into the case as this was always in the case from the very start

ok...straight to the point. I just wanted to find out if the entire back piece of the phone was the areal, every metal part of it resulting in the sensation having one of the largest antennas on a phone, therefor giving it supperiour networking capabilities ?

By supperiour im refering to extreamly strong network coverage, low ping and very stable connections to the server.

Unfortunately Bluetooth is another issue when considering the antenna.

When connected, placing either your hand on purpose or popping it in your pocket, covering half the top half of the phones back cover at the rear, interrupts the connection.

I've tried it with three different Sensations in the shop and all are the same...I'm not happy really.

this phone is very hard to work out. You say you gave them a test run in the shop and they did not work when you put them in your pocket you experianced problems. Chances are that the signal was weakend to such an extent that outher radio frequencys overwelmed the signal.....try it outside the shop, about 20 meters out.
