Next time, you might want to black out any evidence of playing Smurf Village. :p

I kid. ;)

Love AOKP.
With all the love for AOKP, I'm going to have to check it out. Thus far, I find I keep returning to Revolution (and default/stock kernel). It has given me the best battery life of the few ROMs I've tried and just works with no bugs or missing functionality.

I have the paid version of SetCPU, but frankly I've never found the "proper" way to tweak default settings on a ROM and tend to leave settings alone. I tend to think any changes I make usually wind up negatively affecting my phone forcing me to jump back to Revolution.

Hey all, I'm still getting random reboots - yesterday I got two. I'm not really sure what might be causing them, does anyone know? Also, is anyone else having issues with this?

EDIT: Oh, also, my browser has crashed a few times, just like it used to on my OG Droid. I only had a few tabs open, I thought the GNex could handle it. Anyone else had that happen?

i have no problem as long as credit is given where it is due, which he did. i appreciate the fact that he, and others, pull their favorite features from different roms and compile them into one. sure, most of the mods existed somewhere else before, but you couldn't load one rom and get them all.

as far as the donate link goes, its not like he is forcing anyone to click it. if someone likes the features he has put together, why not give them a way to express it? charging for someone else's work is unacceptable, but accepting donations for the work he did do, as well as the support he provides is completely fine by me.

Isn't this the whole point of Open Source?

Good morning all -- trying to download gummyNEX 0.5.0 at work is proving to be a PITA because of the lack of service at my desk, but I want to update now that there are softkey mods in place.

BTW the camera on this phone is still perfectly fine to me. Taken at Starbucks last night. The flickr app is super fun for editing pictures.

ok jb - I'm running lean kernel. What settings should I have in setCPU? please and thank you.

Love AOKP.

Set the governor to InteractiveX and that is all. Don't select "set on boot" until you've tried it for all of today and into tomorrow. If you have zero issues (slow wake up, non responsive, etc..) then you can select "set on boot". See how that does.

Then, if it still ain't cuttin' it we can go to undervolting it, which is advantageous especially on Interactive gov (not "X"). The kernel is slightly UV'd out-of-the-box so try just the gov change :)

This is of my opinion =)

Good morning peeps! I'm about to flash AOKP M2 over build 15, but was wondering about which kernel to use? I got a couple of random reboots using 15 with Franco's kernel, although I should mention I flashed the newest 4.0.3 radios, although I don't think that was a problem.

I still use Franco for M2 ... its a great kernel.. I flashed GLyados last night and its insanely smooth but messed my system up. Last night it was great but it locked on unlocking this morning and wouldn't boot again. Then in recovery it kept locking up. It took a solid 5 minutes to go from 'choose zip from SD' to actually seeing the files on the SD.. it was horrible. Only fix was a fresh install of M2

Like stated above it could be a lot of things.. 1st thing to do is flash stock AOKP no kernel. And see what happens. It could be the underclocking and UV of whatever you were using. If you were stock, then flash lean kernel or Franco and leave stock.. see what happens. Everyone's device is different. Mine LOVES franco kernel, nothing else runs as smooth..

Haven't had a browser crash, but I have had maybe a total of 5-6 random reboots that I've noticed since I bought the phone. Every time, the phone is just laying there in sleep mode and it reboots itself. Running stock. Not a problem for me, but odd indeed.

I'm not so far. Sorry to hear you are.

I use Dolphin Browser and haven't had any issues.

Interesting, so AOKP is more stable than stock? Lol. Doesn't reflect very well on Google and Sammy.

Since buying the phone, it's probably up to around 15 random reboots for me. I got one last night while the phone was laying there in sleep mode, but usually it's while I'm trying to do something, which is rather frustrating.

I had 2 random reboots on stock before I rooted and rom'd. That was 2 days worth of stock.

Since I've rooted I've not had 1 random reboot that I am aware of :)

it's interesting to see all the random reboots. i've only had one or two, and i havent had an issue with AOKP.

i haven't poked around the details of many of the ROMs but i know folks like Stigy and others have been investigating some of the issues with stock ICS. whether or not the ROM community has solved that issue or not is another question (perhaps he can chime in).

the one thing i think i would like some insight on is the issue with ROMs getting stuck in Airplane mode or being unable to reconnect to data btwn toggles or simply losing connnectivity with vzw. this was my one big gripe with the custom ROMs on my OG. i'd lose connection, toggle airplane mode on to restart the signal and trying to switch back... i was unable to even turn airplane mode off. i have seen this a couple of times in the last couple of weeks. before i flashed AOKP M2 last night i had to do a battery pull - couldn't even get anything after toggling 4g/3g.

My only random reboots have occured while trying to turn up the volume and holding down the power button by mistake, haha. I have decided to stick with stock for now, as my daily routine never has me worried about the battery.

I ordered some NFC stickers though, can't wait for those to arrive. I wish I had a dock or two to put them on, I really don't want to stick them on my desk and nightstand.

One thing that is really cool imo about the stickers and NFC in general with the GN, is that I stuck them underneath my work desk, underneath my bedside table, and underneath my cup holder in my car. It reads just fine through wood and plastic (about 1/2" to 3/4" thick). And you can't see anything it's like magic :D

If you have a drawer in the desk etc... you can open it, and stick on the underside where you would set your phone down.

I would like the dock as well, this is kind of a temp fix I guess

I debated on that one...but its an honest screen shot....just really disappointing that I have to restrict my playing ANY game(s) for battery life???? Seriously need a better way to use this phone and battery!!

besides....even tho my 10yr old got me hooked on it....I am not ashamed to say I play it....besides that song getting stuck in my wife's head all the time....that is worth a little bit of public laughter for me!!!!

Thats a great idea, although my desk at work is quite a bit thicker than that. I figure I will just put one on a post-it till I get a permanent solution.

So it works through quite an array of materials around my house I'm really impressed. The only thing I tested that it will not read through is a 1 1/4" thick solid wood door and metals (SS sink). It goes through glass, wood, particle board, plastic. Metal it has an issue with even thin metal it's hit or miss. If your desk is 1" thick of wood you should be fine. Unless you're using a chop block/cutting board girth'd desk :p

I don't think I've experienced any reboots, but my battery life sucks and my 4G isn't as good as it should be (really varies from all 4 bars of 4G to switching back to 3G just a short way down the road). So I am about ready to start ROM'ing. From all the discussion here I think I'm going to try the latest AOKP. I'm currently unlocked, but not rooted and running stock 4.02 with Nova Launcher.

I will have to see. I have counted 7 places I would like stickers, and ordered 10, so have extra to experiment.

Here are my locations and initial ideas:

Car: Bluetooth on, wi-fi off, pandora streaming, volume to max., GPS on
Office 1: Bluetooth on, Wi-fi off, volume to max, pandora streaming. - this is for when I listen to music
Office 2: Volume to low, bluetooth off, wi-fi off, GPS off. For when I am not listening to music.
Office 3: Volume to silent. (posted on the door jam to my office, to hit on my way out of the office for a meeting.)
Entrance to Home: Bluetooth off, Wi-fi on, volume to max.
Kitchen: Browser to allrecipes.com, screen timeout set to 5 minutes. (for cooking, screen is on longer so I don't have to touch the phone with food on my hands)
Nightstand: Volume to low, back-up alarm set, night clock mode started.
