My history with the Ally

I just wanted to give my opinion about this Ally.

My first phone started out great for awhile. Then I started getting sd card failures and the gallery could take all day to load even after deleting practically everything. The keyboard would stop working completely or the touchscreen would do the same. When in the middle of typing on the keyboard a hotkey app would randomly pop up. The phone resarted whenever it wanted and all incoming messages/calls stopped a couple times until I restarted without me knowing about it. And if any small amount of moisture got on the screen it wouldn't work correctly. (I'm sure I'm forgetting more)

After all this my phone fell on the floor face down and spider-webbed the screen. It didn't affect the touchscreen though. I sent it to verizon and they said since the screen is cracked they could not help me. After about a year I lost my phone and had to pay 50 bucks for another one because my contract wasn't up to switch phones.

I have had this Ally for about 3 months now. The first week my screen cracked in the same way. I have been having more and more of the same exact problems as my original phone.

I would not reccommend this phone to anybody even for a first smartphone. It was the most expensive piece of garbage I ever bought.

The last thing you want to do when turning people off of a phone is explain that you broke GORILLA GLASS multiple times. Your phone has the toughest screen available.

whats tougher than gorilla glass?

I never said anything is tougher than gorilla glass. I just found it humorous that you think the Ally's screen is hard to break. The fact that it's Gorilla doesn't mean its indestructible, it just means less likely to break, but still very possible to break. Especially from heights near or above waist-height, which I'm sure is the height that the OP dropped it from.

Sorry if I sound like a smartass, or offensive in my words, that's not the intention.

im not trying to sell gorilla glass, merely pointing out that his biggest complaint was actually one of the better strengths of the phone and completely his fault. thats like buying the whitest shoes available and crying when you scuff them.

I could never agree that this screen is even close to the toughest of screens. Both times mine broke they fell from 3 feet or lower. I also know of 2 friends with allys which basically have the exact cracks.

The rest of the phone has been indestructable so I'm not complaining about that.. its just.. well about everything else like functionality and speed and appearance and so on.

I'm just trying to say the ally should not have a $200 price tag. Its overpriced for a smartphone that cooperates only when it decides to.

Thats a decent price for a portable wifi personal computer. Its perfectly priced just not to your standards. (Electronics technician ;)) and speaking of screens, no screen is perfect. Couple of people have found that out in the razr community. Cracked screens happen everywhere and thats not the phones fault :)
