Root USB no longer working, contact Virgin Mobile or Motorola?

My phone's USB stopped working for my PC and it only charges when the cable is adjusted in some odd way. I've tried new cables.

My phone is under warranty but I don't know which company to get it serviced/replaced from, Motorola or Virgin Mobile?

VM, I think motorola will take longer.

Let us know your experience. My MT's charging is acting up a bit too, have to adjust it for the charge LED to come on. Isaac's MT died the same way. I'm guessing it's a widespread problem on this phone.

Mines seems to start having that problem too! Its not too bad yet though... And hopefully its just the cord. I've had it for close to 4 months now with no problems... I don't want a new one! :/

Just had my Triumph replaced last week for the same problem. Charging wasn't working right so I emailed VM and they set me up with a free replacement with no hassle. After I received the replacement I was trying to backup my SD contents and the USB wasn't working unless I moved the cable head to certain angles. I believe all reports of Triumphs not charging are simply experiencing a faulty micro USB plug, I've seen tons of posts from people having the same problems.

That may be... I have plenty of usb cables go out on me... Mainly cuz I use my phones while there plugged in and charging so the cables get moved around a lot and the wires inside will break... That's one thing they are fragile... But also with some people saying they can't use other usb cables that may actually be the usb port since my phone and a lot of other people's phones can use non oem charging cable with no problem.

Cables are pretty reliable, it's the connections that break, so the port & plug are the problem areas.

Mine is touchy too, takes a few times plugging it in to get the charging light.

I have.a light source leak in the bitten left corner in 2 spots..... is that worth getting a new phone I just had it replaced in store radio shack cause of a pixel was dead or something.

That depends... How much does it bug you? If it bugs you a lot then you can get a replacement, but if it doesn't bug you and you don't have any other problems keep it... My phone has very small light leakage too, but I doesn't bother me and isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it... Either way its a manufacturers defect. So its all up to you...

I have light leak too, mainly because the default backlight for the capacitive buttons on the bottom is too bright. There are apps or CM7 settings to reduce or turn them off. Not worth risking getting a refurb that has other bigger problems.

Are the USB drivers installed? I had this problem when I factory rest my PC the best solution is to restore barnito's stock nandroid backup as it contains the mounted drivers when plugged in many roms for the triumph excluded the drivers as it is a pest after it is installed once

He said the phone works with the PC but only in strange angles, and he also said that he has tried other cables; so by a 98% chance it's the phone's fault.

Sorry for not posting in a while i had no internet , as for VM they said I'd get a replacement phone. According to FedEX it'll arrive the 16th.

^I barely managed to install the stock recovery when connecting to PC, I know i still have the drivers installed still, or else i wouldn't have been able to install the stock recovery, right?

If the computer recognizes it, it means you have the drivers so in short terms... Yes.

After 2 good months I had no choice but to call VM today my phones charging port stopped working properly.In order for it to charge I would have to hold the charging cable a certain way.And I thought that I had one of the good batch ones.I guess this is a very well known issue.

After speaking to customer service I was told they were sending me a class A refurb, I just tracked the order and it says class B.Are they known for pulling these stunts?

Class a or class b are just their internal classifications. They don't necessarily mean anything. Also class b may be the standard thing written for those and they just didn't change the text on the order.

Relax and wait to see if you get a decent replacement before jumping to conclusions.

Also, while their products and network may not be amazing (both can be at times), I have heard very good things about Virgin Mobile's customer service.

hey all could someone either post a link to or point me to the files I would need to
re-install stock rom/recovery/unroot the phone in the sad eventuality my USB port decides to STB.
I had a scare the other night but it appears my battery calibration app did something rouge and a wipe/re-install fixed that(stopped charging although I got LED and showed in the status as being AC charging but wasn't, very wierd stuff but it happened shortly after running the calibration app) i'm guessing its not likely got the only triumph without a bum port so i want to be ready...
