Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

So much hate in the main GN threads I came back here for fresh air. Glad to find a solid crew still loving their GN. I am still psyched as I was on day 1 to have this. I really enjoy it I am unlocked and rooted and have had no desire to flash anything.

With that said I am jealous of The Chief as it sounds like he has the GSM OEM Samsung Car Dock according to a post I read. I figured he would have come here to share with the group as to where he purchased it. I skimmed the last 40 pages to find nothing. So spill the beans, where do I get it?

My new set up. Semi NSFW. Or at least not child friendly.

 Scandalous!

BB, I know we have gotten pretty close as a group around here, but there are some sides of ourselves we should probably keep secret! ;) :p

I'm pretty sure he just has the regular car dock...the one that has NO power and audio hook ups, and a rubberized rim holder thingy thing.

I'm with ya I've never been happier with a smart phone!

I have the Samsung car dock for Nexus, and it fits just fine (even with the extended battery). The flexible rubber dock takes some getting used to, but it has served me well on several long trips :)

With what he wrote here I am guessing OEM, am I wrong?

So I was browsing my usual forums when I came across the article about Google, Facebook and Twitter among others blacking out for a certain period of time to show what the internet would be like if SOPA passed. Well as I was scrolling around the page, I look to the side and the #2 "most popular" tech article was this...I was INFURIATED

But hey, at least they gave credit where credit was due...

Owners of the new Ice Cream Sandwich-equipped Galaxy Nexus already have Face Unlock on their phone, which, as its name implies, scans your face to unlock your phone. As long as you are in decent light and not wearing giant novelty sunglasses, it works decently well (don’t worry, it lets you unlock your phone with a pattern or PIN if the facial recognition fails).

Now developer Robert Neagu is creating a similar app from scratch for iOS. He says on the above video’s YouTube page that while its not as fast as the Android app yet, he hopes to improve it and have it up on the AppStore “later this month.”

Here is a battery screen after one day of normal usage: pulled off of charger at 10p last night; in bed by 1130p; work at 645a; off at 315p; on wifi at home; 3G while idle at work; 4G while on breaks and after work. Few videos, few downloads, lots of Phandroid App, Pandora for an hour. M2 AOKP w/ Lean 1.5 stable.

Interactive uvd per your instructions. Btw...I edited my post with the correct screeny...see my post above again.

So jb...is tasker really worth 7 bucks or am I not finding the right app on the market? I have read about some of the limitations of NFC task launcher and am looking at this app to add to that experience.

I've never used tasker, but from NC's post a page back it sure looks tempting. You know what they say about temptation ehh :D

Hey jb! So I just realized I never hit apply in SetCPU! So that battery life was interactive w/o UV. Just hit apply. Report back tomorrow with my hopefully better results!

Now about Tasker?????

jmar

Aha! Well that is pretty insanely good any way you look at it glad your getting that kind of batt life!

Are you finding yourself limited in any way by using NFC launcher? In saw some pretty cool things in my readings of tasker. I am a man who pays for his apps but 7 bucks is a bigger commitment than 1 dollar. I haven't gotten my NFC tags yet so I don't have a point of reference. Are you finding that you wish you could NFC something with NFC launcher but can't?

P.S. every day I feel like I get better battery life!

I am now yes. I mean my 3 tags (home, car, church) do what they need to do, but I believe using tasker will open a whole new world.

I asked over at XDA about a GPS toggle and that will never happen in NFC task launcher for privacy location reasons and it makes sense. He did say updates were gonna happen though and some settings that aren't there now like display settings were being looked at. At this point I'd wait a little bit to see what kind of updates are planned for the NFC Task Launcher app, but that's just me :)

I used Tasker a little bit on my OG Droid. It's definitely worth the price, so powerful. However, unless you're a pretty good computer geek, it can have a steep learning curve. There have been long threads in the Android Lounge about it. IIRC, user UncleJimbo was a huge help for folks trying to set up certain profiles.
The one I set up that I liked a bunch was when I walked by Whole Foods on my way home (I went almost nightly), it was set up to text my wife if she needed anything at the store. Pretty neat.

Man, I wish I could get battery life like some of you are getting. I fear that even if I did flash a new ROM and kernel that I would still struggle to get 12 hours when I'm at work most of the day. My office is inside a metal building in a poor service area anyway, so I spend 90% of the day with little to no service. That kills my battery. If I didn't pick up my phone once and try to do anything over the course of a day, I'd be at 50% by work day end. I put Juice Defender on and I've been able to skate by a day at work with probably 80% left if I don't do anything, and 50%-60% if I use it light-moderate. That allows me to make it to 10pm or so before charging at bedtime. Not terrible considering I'm out the door at 6am. Wish I didn't have to use JD though to accomplish that.
