Help SD Card Doesn't Load

So, I'm running CM7 on my NC off an SD card, no problems. Boss likes what I have, so she gets one for Christmas and wants hers like mine. BUT, her version is 1.4.1 and I have followed this to a T:

When I insert the SD card, the NC loads as normal and doesn't seem to recognize the SD card. I did try a different card and had the same issue. I have even formatted, partitioned and the NC still starts with "read forever". Is there a step I've somehow missed? I am not comfortable with trying to revert back to an earlier NC version. I have the most recent versions of CM7 and google apps and at a loss as to what to do next.

Cheapy card shouldn't make a difference.

If you can't pull up a boot menu (press home button at start until boot options menu comes up), then you didn't flash the sdcard properly (Winimage or win32imageimager)

Yes, you want latest gApps and CM7.1 stable.

I used Winimage in administrator mode to flash the card. When I pressed the home key at start up, all I got was the restore option.

Try putting your SD card (which you know works) in the boss's NC.

Tried that too - and it didn't work either. Mine is a San Disk Class 4 8g card. I have also considering trying one of the reverts back to 1.3 with her NC, but don't know if I really want to try that on the boss' NC.

Tried one more time with my card - formatted it, flashed the card with newly downloaded files, insert into boss's NC and it still boots as if card is not installed even. Tried a restart by hold N button and my option was factory reset or start normal. Checked and the NC does see the card.

So, neither new card or old card works in boss's 1.4.1 NC.

Do both work in your NC?

What B&N version is yours? Is it rooted?

I didn't try the boss' SD card in my nook, but I can give that a try next week when she comes back. Mine is 1.3 running CM7 off an SD with no problems.

I second Colchiro's idea of trying the boss's generic SD card in your NC.

Are we sure the boss has a Nook Color, not a Nook Tablet? (grasping at straws, now, not trying to insult your intelligence...)

If Boss has a NC, and both SD cards work in your NC, boss's NC may have a bad SD card slot. Can you see the SD card contents once it is booted in the Nook OS? Probably not much to see, but you should see something.

So one of these must apply:

You never boot into 1.3 long enough for it to update to 1.4.1
You disabled updating or
It fails to update (errors out) to 1.4.1 (occasional reboots)

Yup - it's a NC, once she saw mine, she wanted one from the get go and got one for Christmas. And yes, can't remember where I saw it, but I can see the contents of the card from the NC.

Colchiro - Now that I'm using CM7 off the SD, I leave the card in all the time and access the nook via an app. I will double check to make sure though she does have a NC compared to the tablet, but I'm pretty sure it's just a NC.

Color would be a good indicator.... NC is dark gray, NT is more gold.

UPDATE: Thank you guys for your input and help. Turns out boss does have the tablet. I never really looked close at her NC and now that I have them side by side, I can see the difference. No, we're not going to try and run off an SD card and she's okay with that.

I'd go to the Nook Tablet section and root it.
