Root Fix for *low on space error (sense roms)/force closes (AOSP Roms)*

please explain... I have rooted 2.2 ;)

root explorer shows amount used... not amount available..

well those mods, don't actually increase the size of the partition, they just move the files that would be put into that partition into the larger 750mb partition. So I believe the only thing you will notice is that there is a new subfolder in your /data partition that now contains the files that would normally go into the /data/data partition.

so after some playing, this appears to break my wifi?

i have stock 2.2, rooted, s-off. i install this mod (no_data_limit_normal_dalvik) using clockworkmod (5.0.2.0). the install goes smoothly, everything else on the phone seems to work. when i turn on wifi it will connect and get an address from my access point (i've tried work and home networks) but i can't actually do anything using wifi (internet browser, email, wifi explorer app, etc).

restoring my backup (in clockworkmod recovery) fixes my phone. this is the only change i've made since the backup. i've tried it a few times both at home and work to test the wifi networks. wifi works fine, install mod, wifi doesn't do anything, restore backup and wifi starts working.

do i *need* gingerbread for this mod to work? is there something else i'm missing?

EDIT - just an update, i got this to work after asking one of the xda devs. supposedly the stock kernel will not support the ext4 structure. so i flashed incredikernel for froyo Incredikernel - Custom kernels for your HTC Droid Incredible and now the mod works. the xda dev mentioned some people reported having to flash the kernel, the mod, and then the kernel again.

Hell, I've been restoring old nandroid backups once a week now because my phone would just freak out after a few days and start force closing everything. If this actually fixes it, what a godsend! I thought I had left that 'low application data space' bullshit in the past forever.... Thank you so much for the head's up!

Still not having any luck getting rid of the low space notification with my rooted INC. Have been running IceCream Sense v1.3 for quite a while and have really liked the ROM - until the low space notification started showing up.

Are there any good roms out there that work with this? I was about to try out Abduction ICS because it was mentioned on XDA that the mod was baked into it. However, it has been removed in the latest version.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Call me an idiot, but in the link

i cannot for the life of me find the link to download the no_data_limit_normal_dalvik anywhere in that post. and its been closed so I cant ask there. I feel dumb.

I don't see the links anymore either, I'll look into it and update the original post if I can find them. Thanks for the heads up :)

Looks like the files can be found here:
