Hey guys,

I have been loving the Ultimate 2.5 ROM from blackdroid. 3.1 is up now and looks like they have added some nice features!

The camcorder not working is my biggest problem with this ROM but I don't use it on a daily basis...the first time I need it though...I'll be wishing it were fixed. :)

I'm installing now.

UPDATE: 3.5 is coming out today so hold off as this version of the ROM (3.1) is not very stable. Nandroid error problems for many people, slow screen transitions, etc. Having said that, 2.5 was much more "polished" so I'm hoping these issues get addressed in 3.5

Okay, so I am going to call this a "testing rom" :(

There are a lot of nice added features but screen switching is slow and it has some obvious bugs to be worked out. The kernel is only OC'd to 1GHz and previously I was running stable at 1.2GHz. While this has never been the fastest ROM, This version has some issues.

I'm going back to Ultimate 2.5 for now...waiting on an update cause this ROM has potential! :D

feh - I like the ROM, an I want to test it a bit more - but I think that will be tomorrow - or the weekend. I am about to restore ADC and call it quits (like I said I would an hour ago!)

3.5 is coming today so I would hold off and wait to play with that one. There are many fixes that are going to be addressed.

ok..I tried this ROM and have to say it was not what it was hyped to be... even OCed it was slow and unresponsive... I even deleted a lot of the pre-installed apps and still had issues with it being slow... I even switched kernals and continued to have the lag issues... although it did not restart constantly on me like Pete's ROMs do

Agreed. The bad thing is that version 2.5.2 was SO much faster. The notification panel wasn't having issues, no FC's etc. I'm not sure what has been "improved" in 3.5 but it just feels like it is half-assed. I don't mean any disrespect by that but I fail to understand how you release updates that take away from a pretty solid (IMO) base and release a new version where things that used to work (like white on black vs. black on black notification text)??? I'm sorry I even put this out there for people to try. This ROM has potential but I'm just not seeing it put together...

Yeah...I'm not digging this at all.

It is absolutely unresponsive. Can't quantify it, but running it at 1GHz with no apps installed (just the way it is OOB) and it feels like running Pete's at 250.

Back to the Beast...

Version 2.5.2 benched about 50 ms slower than 3.5 (at the same freq)! I hope they make improvements to the performance cause they do pack a lot of features in that ROM which are nice to have. Camcorder still doesn't work though  How is that? Oh well, I'm working on AllDroid 0.3 and it is good performance with a basic, plain look and feel (kinda the opposite of Ultimate).

From Pete's Bugless Beast 2.1 v.5 thread...

Interesting, and it would explain why the speed bump up and down so much between releases. Anyone looked close enough to verify or deny this?

Ultimate Droid ROM  if you have not noticed yet, he keeps jumping between using my ROM and koush's ROM as a base and his users think he is the one fixing the issues. That's why every time me or koush updates, so does he. So one of Ultimate ROM versions will include auto brightness, reboot option, and a broken video cam (because it is koush's ROM). Then one version later the change log will state: "removed auto brightness and reboot option and added a few things, overall it got a whole lot faster!" (because it is MY ROM) Then his users are amazed at how fast and stable it is. Good job on all the hard work! Pshh...
