LOL...well, I do enjoy my lathe, and make various things such as bowls, pens, ornaments, salt/pepper mills (on the lathe, but that also requires a drill press, grinder, bandsaw, dust collector, and various sanders too.) Hand turning, to me, is FAR more relaxing and enjoyable than CNC'ing!

Here are a couple examples (gotta get some pics of the bowls at some point...lol):

Well, I hate to do it, but I need to return my phone for a replacement, because my calls tend to get lots of static, or loss of complete signal at times. VERY frustrating! Since I use my phone quite a bit for work, this is very important.

<snip>

You know, I'm having the same problem... mine will sometimes completely drop the call about 2 minutes into the converstation. The person on the other end is, "Are you there? Hello?" but the phone has connection. It's like the voice part of the call just dies. Hang up, call right back, and it works fine. It doesn't do this all the time, but enough that it's annoying. I am 100% stock... no rooting, no ROMs, nothing.

You and I are both in NC... could it be a regional thing? Wishful thinking maybe...

yeah, that's exactly what mine will do. Sometimes it is just a bad quality call. It's much worse than what I had when I was on my DX, so I don't think it's a regional thing. I've heard this complaint numerous times. This isn't something I can ignore, and if it's not fixed, I'll simply have to look for another phone. That would KILL me, as I love the Nexus!!!

WOW! I loved the lathe when I took wood shop in high school. Those are amazing!!!

Anyone who is good at resizing to make wallpapers please make the two darth maul posters a wallpaper for me? Is it possible to take all the words off it too? Pretty please :)

Hope you like - I got one done at full resolution so far. Constructive criticism welcome.

I also have this issue with the "one way audio issue". Some have related it to the SIM card. Verizon is sending me a new one today. I did not want to get another one locally because the store here still has the same batch they received at launch, I want the newer ones. There is a post showing the physical difference in the SIM cards. Let me see if I can find the picture and I will post it. I will also post if the new card makes a difference, it should be here today. Also in NC...

I have a friend/co-worker who turns small items like pens, bottle stoppers and styluses. Some of his work is on his personal website. I wonder if you know him (assuming you aren't him)? :eek:

LOL...nope, that's not me. :) I'm a bit surprised I don't know him though, as I've done quite a few turning demonstrations around here, specifically for pens. However, I've not turned much for the past few years, when I opened my own practice.

He has some nice stuff!

I had (have?) this issue as well but I think that my SIM swap fixed it as I have not experienced the problem since the switch. My new SIM "looks" just like the previous one I had (non-oval) and both are from the same North Charlotte VZW store. Although I don't make a lot of calls, if this were a persistent problem, I'd be forced to return the Nexus for (probably) a Rezound. Wouldn't want that so I am hopeful that my current setup is problem-free...

Here is the picture of the two different SIM Cards, I have the one on the left. As I said before, some people say the new card has fixed it for them. Verizon does not charge for a new SIM.

Ahh, interesting. I also have the one on the left. I can still get a new phone, as long as I do it in the next 2 days. I may swing by my local store in a few minutes and swap that out. Then if I'm still having problems, by Sunday, I'll swap out phones. Thanks Copacetic!!!

BB may be more thorough, but here is a quick solution. Note that you would want to use a non-scrollable background as the images only scale to 720 x 1280.

Thanks to esmith818 for doing the hard part on this one. I cleaned up a couple pieces and fixed his eyes. And then added the full black background.

If you swap the phone, make sure they give you a new SIM, some people are reporting same problem with a new phone, but that Verizon put their old SIM in it (others say the SIM swap did not work for them). I also logged it with Verizon customer support so that even after Sunday, they will see that I called about it before the return date. Beautiful day here at the beach, the front last night dropped our temp by 20 degrees, stay warm inland fellow NCer!
