Hi

Just researching before I take the plunge. I was thinking of flashing a Gingerbread ROM but I was also planning on using the A2SD+ as starge space is my main reason for plashing my Desire. I read in Gingerbread "move to SD" is better than Froyo "Move to SD". It moves more than Froyo. It now moves the lib files of an app too. A2sd+ does not currently, so Gingerbread "Move to SD" moves more of an app than A2sd+ currently does.

With that in mind I'm confused if I still need to use Gparted if I plan to use Gingerbread?

Sorry if this is a dumb question!

If you're going to upgrade using the official HTC dev team's Gingerbread, then you will not have apps2SD+, rather than plain old apps2SD.
Apps2SD+ is basically conning your phone in believe it has more internal memory that it really has. This is done by using gparted and creating a ext2/3/4 partition on your SD Card and flashing a rom/script which recognises this. That way when you install an app, data will get moved over to the ext partition.

The official gingerbread is more effiecient at apps2sd true, but when I had to compare the two, it wasn't anything brilliant and didn't solve my long term problems of low memory when I was on stock Froyo.

All of them are stable.

CM7 = will have to add A2sd+ script or download simple2Ext
Oxygen = Does it come with script?
Redux = Comes with basic script, will need to flash add on to increase memory saved (dalvik)
Gingervillain - Comes with DT script, need to use terminal emulutor to type "a2sd cachesd" if you want to move dalvik...
