Just got the crazy idea of running my GNex with the extended battery, but without the battery cover on in the Diztronic R3. It feels much thinner now... and the case it self does seem to cover up pretty much everything. The original battery cover was pretty thin itself anyway... doubt there's much difference in terms of protection? Anyone think this is a bad idea?

If so, I may just run it with the original battery cover on top of the extended battery. It's a tight fit, but it still fits pretty well.

My dixtronic case fits fine with the extended battery/cover.

I worry about not using the Nexus cover because it seems like it will invite condensation into the back of the phone.

Ok, I can confirm, for those of those that like holsters.

The Diztronic Rev 3 case, with Extended Battery back plate, fits in the holster from the Verizon Holster/Shell with kickstand combo pack.

This is the perfect setup for me. Just enough protection with the convenience of the plastic belt holster. Slips right in, like they were made for each other.

I'm sort of disappointed. I finally broke down and bought the Seidio Surface combo with spring clip holster. I've had the "naked" version of the Seidio holster for my Storm and Incredible and I love them, but I hate cases. I couldn't find a holster that did what the Seidio one did, so there you have it.

Does anyone have the Seidio Surface and the Verizon car dock? I'm assuming that it adds enough bulk to the phone that won't fit. Can anyone confirm?

i have both. the case adds too much bulk to fit in the car dock. i don't think the car is compatible with any case at all, it's too tight of a fit.

this is part of the reason i ordered the diztronic case since it seems easier to remove that case than the surface case and then pop the phone in the car dock.

Also, the Diz Rev 3 case fits perfectly in the leather horizontal belt cases sold on ebay that are made for the HTC Titan.

I have the Siedio Surface case which I like a lot but my only concern is if the two part case would survive a drop and still protect my Nexus. It looks like the Revision 3 Diztronic will do a decent job without the concern of a two part case coming apart.

I may just pick up a Diztronic case as a backup; I just wonder if it will fit in my Seidio surface holster.

I did have one that went together (front and back instead of slider) like this on my Charge and it did not survive a somewhat hard fall from about 3.5 feet and when I contacted Seidio they just offered to sell me another one....

The Barely There case does not provide full housing protection - namely the top, bottom and screen are completely exposed. If you use the case acknowledging this, then the Barely There case is actually quite decent. The matte black and solid non-sticky rubber feel is great. Further, I can confidently place my phone front- or back-side on a table without worrying about damage (the case edges are slightly lipped on the front side so that the screen doesn't actually touch the surface).

Well, haven't put all three through their paces, but I ordered a few different ones from Amazon (all ~$9 or so).
Have used the Diztronic 3 for nearly a week. I think it's a great case. The cut outs are perfectly located. It's a touch slick but certainly grippier than a naked phone. It's a little on the boring side appearance wise, but no big deal. And of the three, it seems to be the sturdiest.
On top of that, I got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Teal-Androidified-Samsung-SCH-i515-Packaging/dp/B0060PBZ8A/ref=pd_sim_cps_10
Got it purely for aesthetic reasons, thought it was pretty cool! First thing, it's quite glossy and very slip resistent which is great. Seems to be probably the flimsiest in material of the three. Main issue is the volume rocker is not cut out. Had to be done pronto as any slight pressure on the sides caused the volume to go ALL the way down. I cut out a good swath for it and all seems to be well.
Last was this one:
Amazon.com: SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUS BLACK TPU GEL SKIN CASE, IN QUBITS RETAIL PACKAGING: Electronics
I've only put it on but haven't spent much time with it. Also doesn't have cutouts for the volume rocker but it's not as bad with depressing them without without wanting to. I like the grippy feel is has on the sides. The back is only partially slick.
All and all, I was just looking for something simple as I went 2 years with my Droid with barely a scratch on the outside and never a case. Would recommend all three to anyone looking for something simple, cheap but doesn't need the protection of an Otterbox.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the heads up. It might be time for me to invest in a quality universal mount so I can stop buying car mounts with my phone every two years :)

Here is what I'm using. It is rock solid with no vibrating or shaking.

iGRIP - Holding Solutions for Cell Phones, Navigation Devices & MP3 Players

It comes in black or clear. I bought the holder and mount combo; and the holder that comes in this kit will hold the GN with standard cases (I'm currently using the VZW UTP case). If you have a bulky case like an Otterbox, you may want to buy the mount and holder separately (should you go with this); and get one of the two larger holders.

I also have some videos of it here.
