Battery Life, Thoughts?

Mine is pretty bad as well, but it gets REALLY bad when I'm surfing the internet on it. I could literally kill a fully charged battery in about 2 hours if I surf the internet. I lose about 1% a minute.

Just a quick guess looking at your screen shot though, it looks like too much awake time. The AndroidOS isn't allowing the phone to sleep. One person suggested it was a camera sensor firing up upon boot up, then failing to shut off. The suggestion was once you reboot, open the camera app, then close it and see if that makes a difference. I've never had the AndroidOS awake problem with mine, so I can't comment if that works or not.

Its been 6hrs and im at 70%, I think thats excellent seeing that i have no bars and is connected to the web only through WIFI

I have fairly solid 4G coverage, so I can get about 20-25 hrs of idle time with the Gnex. But the moment the screen turns on, the battery drops like mad

i see 10% is phone calls. Make sure you screen isnt on while on a call. once i connect to a call, i always manually shut the screen off. i can usually go 16-20 hours on my phone with medium use. This would include about 15 text messages, 2-5 calls lasting a few minutes, watching video's on netflex or u tube for an hour or so, playing games for an hour or so. internet, email, and market average about half hour to and hour during that time period.

i have my screen on 1 min auto shut off, auto brightness, and always manually shut off my screen after use.

however, i am only on 4g for about 9-10 hours while i am at work. while i am at home, my phone switches to wifi automaticly.

Same here. I was having problems with my battery life but disabled G+, signed out of Google Talk, turned off syncing (have a widget in my notification tray that forces sync), turned off 4G, and my battery life in idle is great now (20-25, possibly more, haven't tried it) but the screen eats up battery like none other. I have my brightness at 1% and it still drains it heavily.

Screen on time dominates the usage of this phone. If you have it awake, and are manipulating the screen with your fingers, you can practically see the gauge draining.

There's no real point in analyzing it beyond that. This screen is a hawg.

Are you rooted? Stock?

I would get MAYBE 7 or 8 hours with that kind of use.

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree here. And to the OP that seems about right on par here.

The above guy watching videos on netflix and all the other stuff he mentioned, you really get that much of a battery life doing all of that? Seriously! Come on there is no way! What's your secret?

I would like to know that as well. I'm not exaggerating...if I'm surfing the internet I literally lose 1% every minute. I dropped 2% while typing this.

It didn't have much effect for me, but I use wifi at home and in the office, and everywhere else I'm switching between 3g and 4g areas constantly.

That would be great and all but it doesn't support NFC and from what I understand you need a battery that supports NFC. (Im on Verizon phone)

From talkandroid: If you look closely at the Verizon Galaxy Nexus training materials you will see a wee bit of a bombshell being dropped concerning NFC and the Galaxy Nexus‘ swappable battery. Those that don’t know, the NFC chip is located in the battery itself so the hardware changes when you swap the battery. What this means is that your not only will your replacement battery require NFC capabilities, but that the system and NFC chip use a token that matches together for security purposes. However this doesn’t mean that a replacement battery won’t work. As Verizon puts it:
“Customers attempting to use more than one battery with the Galaxy Nexus may have less than an optimal experience since the NFC chip within the battery must register a token between the device and the battery each time the battery is swapped.”
So basically this is a buyer beware. Less than optimal may be okay for some, it may not be for others. One thing is for sure, we will have to see how things pan out when the device finally hits the shelves. Hopefully that is Friday like everyone is hinting.

WiFi has a huge positive effect on battery. I see your WiFi was on for the entire 12+ hours. Was it connected to an access point the entire time? If not, were you on 3G or LTE when it wasn't connected to WiFi?

I leave my wi-fi on all the time. I get wifi at work and home so im usually connected, also on gsm version so when not on wifi im on hspa+(exceptional service on my area) my phone never swaps between 3g/hspa+.

When I used the standard bat and I raped the lte network I got 4.5-5.5 hours and under normal use Id get 12-16 hours. I added tge ext batt cause you cant really tell a difference and it looks to work fine with the docks when they release. Hammering the lte now I get bout 5.5-6.5 and 15-24 on light to normal use. I hardly switch to wireless because my lte tests here in Sioux Falls,Sd. Average about 15 down and 10 up I will say all battery problems are a combination of two things. You either have battery app eaters "there are tons of them out there", and or in lte/3g border areas, where your phone has to constantly bounce lte to 3g to lte back and forth all the time.

My experience is about the same. I get about 5-6 hours on LTE when I'm on the phone for pretty much 3-3.5 of those hours. If I use the phone for my typical day, I get 14-16 hours on CDMA for about 1.5-2 hours of screen usage and 1-2 hours of streaming music.

Poor service will kill the battery. I turn my data off at work if I'm not going to put it on the charger and it makes the difference of losing about 40% of my battery in 8 hours.
