you've tried this, and can recommend?

i actually need a dvd ripper program

i use magic dvd. you can trial it for 5 uses (you can rip as many movies as you want as long as you don't close the program). new version allows you to increase the volume prior to ripping.

it's been pretty succesful. typical two hour movies i do at 640x???? (whatever it works out in widescrean) and the files are around 1.2 gb each movie. i have 40 movies and seasons 1-6 of it's always sunny in philly in my laptop. i've got two 32gb microsd cards i am keeping the movies on too for use with the tablet, rather than saving them to the tablet itself. so far, so good.

1.2gb per movie seems great! I have no idea what they are supposed to be, but i thought it was much more than that. Like 3gb - 5gb each or something.

how much is that app to purchase anyhow? I have soooo much to rip, i might just buy it lol.

OR setup a dedicated machine to rip all week long without touching it, so i can do my entire collection within 1 use ahaha

I was cautious before I downloaded the trial version, but it worked out great. Even better, I don't have to separately decrypt .tivo files before using it, cause they built in the .tivo decryption. I'll probably use it more for .tivo files than for DVD files.

Yup, works great.
I bought it and think I paid $9 bucks for it on sale from their web-site. Excellent customer support, just e-mail them and they will reply usually within a few hours.
I converted a bunch of DVD's using the Nook Color settings (I originally bought this program for the Nook). I put those files on the Prime and they all worked great. I have not converted any specifically for the Prime yet because my version doesn't have a Prime preset yet that I've been able to find. Matter of fact I think I'll e-mail them, should have an answer on that by the end of the day.
I highly recommend this since I have not had any problems with it yet and have ripped 20+ movies so far.

Here is DVD Catalyst reply to my e-mail:

The latest couple of versions of DVD Catalyst have profiles for the Prime.

to update to the latest version of DVD Catalyst, use your original purchase link, or just tap on the cat-eyes in the program to have DVD Catalyst check for updates.

New in the latest version is a setting called CRF, which will result in even better quality than the profiles:

For more information on CRF, please have a look here:

It's true, my version of DVD Catalyst does have a preset for the Transformer Prime.

Yup, I e-mailed them and they said the latest version has the Prime. I installed the new version and there it is. I tried the highest quality to re-do Revenge of the Sith which came out in 4:3 format when I converted it for our Nook Color and it came out full screen for the Prime but I used the remove all bars option and I think it cropped some of the picture. I'm going to mess with each preset to see which one works best. I also used the CRF option to reduce the file size and it came out to be about 600meg. The Nook Color version converted to 1.2gig. I didn't really notice any difference in the picture quality though. I'm sure the AVS types would though.

You can now rent movies from google download them and "pin" them to your device and watch them on the plane. I went to Hawaii on vacation last week and watched two movies I had rented. They are good for 30 days....once you start viewing them, you have 24 hours to watch them. It said a movie would take 30-40 minutes to download but on my asus prime it took only 7 minutes to download. Movies rent from $1.99 to $3.99. After watching 2 movies and reading part of an ebook, I still had 52% of my battery life....love it....highly recommend the Asus Prime!!

That is Google Movies, i believe and would work the same on any Android device. i saw them discuss it an a Google IO event a few months ago.

If i remember correctly, you cannot use this service if your TFP is Rooted.

But yes, great service.
