Root CM9 OR CM7 when

I was wondering if anyone was working on CM9 or CM7 for the esteem ?

The only thing I see in his question is "I was wondering if anyone was working on CM9 or CM7 for the esteem"... not "when is it going to be done", or "hurry up and get it finished".

Forgive me for sticking my nose into this, but the question sounded polite to me... not demanding or rude in any way, shape, form or fashion.

It's common knowledge that it's deemed inappropriate/inconsiderate to ask when something is going to be 'done' or 'finished', but some people are a bit too quick to become offended by simple and innocent questions at times.

We "n00bs" will likely remain "n00bs" indefinitely, if we continue to get our heads bit off for asking a simple question.

We understand that the devs working on these projects have lives and families that must come FIRST, and get paid little or none for all their valuable time and effort... God bless them!
But how else are we supposed to learn if we don't ask?

Seems to me that, if the more people are actively involved (yes, even the n00bs), the less work on our beloved devs, the faster the work progresses, and the better the ideas/progress flows for all.

Again - sorry for the soapbox rant, and please forgive me... I just hate to see people turned off by such negative responses to innocent and simple questions.

It's not good for our forum.

I was referring to the title ;)

Theres not much us noobs, yes I am one too when it comes to stuff, that we can do. CM7 is having compiling issues, and with CM9 that one is going to take some time. ALOT has changed between CM7 and CM9, so lot of stuff is done different with that one. That one is a complete learning process for even the devs. Thats why theres, I dont think, even one 100% stable build of it for any phone. Every other phone is in alpha which means it boots up but nothing works. Theres not much anyone can do but wait, patiently. Its being worked on, and has said is being worked on.

As do both the site owner, admin and all of the staff here actually.

That being said, we've established no one knows for sure when/if a build of Cyanogen will be released, so can we keep further posts to speculating on that please?

We're here to help each other, not bicker. :)

Understood. ;)
You've always been understanding and helpful bro... in many ways!

From what I've read, CM9/ice cream is a completely different ballgame compared to CM7/GB - basically a ground-up rewrite of android?
That's GOT be a tough egg to crack!
What can I do to help anyone on the project?
I feel so helpless in the cause... and don't really know where to even start.

I am working on both CM7 and CM9 for the Esteem. CM7 I dont foresee being to much hassle once I get it compiling and a built booting. CM9 tho will most likely require alot of stuff to be rewrote at the src level, which I will most likely need assistance with as I'm not a coder lol.

A timeframe for either I cannot give at this time as I also have to round up work for my business so I can get my bills paid etc etc. ;)
