I've searched a lot. This forum. Another forum. Google.

I probably am not going about this in the right way... I want to mirror my screen on my tv. Only thing is that I do not have a hdmi cable for the 4g. It seems that all the answers that I can come up with after searching talks about the hdmi cable.

Can I do it through DLNA? Someone help me out here.

xBounds adds HDMI mirroring to Android phones, lets you 'kill the pigs' on the big screen (video) -- Engadget

or you can root your phone and use most kernels now have hdmi mirroring but you will need to get a hdmi cable for it to work.

I am VERY interested in this topic and just joined the forum in order to ask this question...

I recently bought a type D to type A HDMI cable for my HTC EVO 4G. I hooked it up to my Vizio and it worked for the gallery and youtube videos. However, when I try to use it for HBO Go, it tells me (paraphrasing) "disconnect your HDMI cable and try again." I'm very new to phone terms (kernals, etc), however I'm hoping someone might be able to walk me through a process to allow me to do this.

EDIT: Don't really want to root, so if I can do without, that would be great.

I'm wanting to avoid buying a hdmi cable. I'm not sure it'll work either since I want to mirror what my phone's camera can see to the TV.

I want a solution like whatever is on the phone's screen mirrored to the tv. Something like youtube demos of new roms. They're mirroring whatever is on the screen to the TV... but probably with the hdmi cable. Can I do it through dlna?

unfortunately right now to do that you will have to be rooted. i do not think that the evo will evr get that option, unless you try xbound i linked in my previous post.

xbound looks like the only answer i have come across so far. but who knows what has come out of the ces in vegas. i have not seen any other articles on something like that.

and as i stated above, rooting is the only other option, but you will need to get a hdmi cable. it works. i have used it for that purpose with the camera and video.

Thanks for the reply. So if I root, I can just use FullHDMI or some other tool? Will I need to do anything else after I root?

yes you will need to flash a kernel that has hdmi support. but most of the custom kernels available for gingerbread sense will have support for it. after that you can then just plug the phone in to the tv and your done. once rooted try the aggressive freedom kernel.

and going forward i would post your questions in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/
