Where to buy and price?

Hi All

I'm new to this Android-forum. Hoping to find some interesting info...

I am still in doubt on what Android-phone to buy.

I know the Samsung I7500 will be sold in Germany (by O2) and in France (by Bouygues telecom under the name Samsung Galaxy). I am wondering whether they will be simlocked or not and I can not seem to find a price estimate for the Samsung I7500.

Any ideas on this?

I live in Belgium so buying them directly in France or Germany wouldn't be a problem.

Rumor has it that this phone will be released by TMo "this summer" as the i7200 Capella.

Also rumored coming to TMo this summer is the Samsung Bigfoot.

I'm eagerly awaiting both and can't decide between them. Have to wait and see the actual specs.

Yeah me too. So I live in Belgium but only 30 min drive from Germany... and as soon as I know it's displayed in the O2 shops I will go and check it out. Should be anytime soon now...

Today I'm going to check the HTC Magic's cupcake keyboard in The Netherlands...because I'm used to hardware keyboards and I'm not that eager to switch to software keyboards. (I'm a HTC Kaiser user)

Tomorrow I'll go and check out the HTC TouchPro2 (Windows mobile) device.

And when I've checked out all this I'm going to decide which phone to buy...

If the i7500 would have a hardware keyboard it would make choosing a device a lot simpler for me...

As far as I could read, it is possible to buy it without a plan, and if it's not sim locked, then i'm good to go. about 400 EURO vill be acceptable for me, but i'm not sure if thats unrealistic.

I somewhat agree with you. I have the iphone now, and writing sms/mail etc is not easy because you can't feel the buttons. I send a lot less texts than when i had a phone with hardware keys...But the overall experience makes up for it..... and i think android will fullfill that even more.

technically i could just start now and then test on the emulator, but it's half the fun to try the app on a real device

Might I recommend trying a Compact QWERTY keyboard? The normal was too small for my fingers but with Compact QWERTY I can type faster than on a G1.

Thanks for the tip, will try. Though I find it hard to believe that more keypresses, can result in faster typing on a full keyboard somehow. (or perhaps I'm thinking of the wrong kind of compact qwerty keyboard)

The keyboard I am talking about is featured in this video @1:55 : YouTube - HTC_IME Hero by Haykoru - demo of all three keysystems It is faster because you don't have to use both hands and you have to reach less to actually get to the keys - the reaching doesn't matter much if you have long fingers. IMO pressing a hardware key takes more time than pressing a soft key in the end. Not everyone is the same and yes, you should go with whatever is best for you as a person. I will also wait for reviews before I jump the ship for the i7500 or any of the other Android devices HTC announces tomorrow. Regards.

You can find this type of keyboard as an option in a Market App Called "Better Keyboard"
