Lamest ringtones ever...

This may be a common theme among samsung phones, but I wouldn't know it cuz this is my first samsung phone. But, the stock ringtones on this thing are the worst I have ever heard. That includes the notification ring tones.

Good thing this phone otherwise rocks!

They're supposed to fit in with the Galaxy Nexus theme, I guess. I really like Argo Navis, though.

BTW I have to disagree, the worst stock ringtones are definitely the WP7 ones. They're horrible.

Not sure if it works on non-rooted phones, but I was able to copy my favorite ringtones, notifications and alarms from my OG Droid's system folder to the SD card using Astro, move them to the PC, and then move them to the Nexus.

Now I have all my favorite and familiar ringtones back in service

They are bad. Create your own. Brinked will do it. and yes you will have to read the forum as to how to get them from your PC to your computer. Any song you can make a ringtone. I like to never figured out how to get it from my PC to the phone but when I did it worked perfect.

There's also an app (free, IIRC) called Ringtone Maker that allows you to do it on your phone. I used Ringdroid in the past too, but I read that it wasn't compatible with ICS yet, and Ringtone Maker did just fine.

I have all the original Droid and Blackberry Bold Original ringtones and notifiers on my GNex, as well as some of my own custom ringtones.

Now I have all my favorite and familiar ringtones back in service

Did you have to use the same method of folder naming as in the Droid? IE... Media-> Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, etc?

I haven't gotten around to rooting the phone yet, and was wondering if the same way would work on the Nexus to add to the system tones...

I haven't tried putting the folders in the Media folder to see if they still work, but the default is the Ringtones, Notifiers, and Alarms folders are in the root directory.

I was just browsing around after I posted and saw the folders were there... I'm assuming if you add the tones in the appropriate folder, do a restart or media scan, they should be available under the system tones...

you can even amplify the ringtone so its louder, great feature for the quiet nexus

iPhone 4S has the lamest ringtones and notifications. My wife has one and she HATES them.

Just throw audio files in /sdcard/Notifications, /sdcard/Alarms, /sdcard/Ringtones, etc.

No root needed and for those who are rooted and flash ROMs constantly, you won't lose anything during wiping/flashing.

RingDroid actually does work on the Gnex -- you just need to sideload it from the googlecode site

I like the Machimba ringtone that comes stock..Very nice.

the notification sounds all kinda sound the same though..Proxima i kept for gmail and other notifications besides text messages.
