Root File Recovery Needed HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I moved a folder onto my htc evo 4g phone's internal memory then my battery died and when i went back to the root of my phone the folder was gone is it any possible way that I can get the folder back or recover the files that was in it??????

Where did you move the folder from? was it the sd card. If so how much have you used the card since the problem occured? Is your phone Rooted? What ROM are you using? What did you use to move it with? (ie. Root explorer, ES)

not sure what you mean by internal memory. so you are talking about your phone system partition and not your sd card correct? and like argedion asked, how did you move the file? what app did you use? and you have to be rooted to get access to the system partition.

we need a little more info as well. like what was the file? where on the phone did you move it to?

Yes im rooted and i moved it from the sd card to my phone using es file explorer and i was trying to cut and paste the folder it was called My_Images it had pictures in it

do to some unclairity still I am going to have to assume you were trying to move the pictures to the /system/media folder. My first question would be Why? Second it may be possible to retrieve those images back as long as the writing to the card has basically halted. You will need a card reader and a bit of luck. There is a program you can use to help bring back your lost photo's provided that you really haven't done a whole lot to try and restore them yourself. The more you write to the card the less chance of retrieval.

1. Shut phone down and remove card from phone and place it into a card reader. (While it is possible you could do it from the phone its just best practice to do this type of work straight to the card where no interruptions can occur)

2. You will need to get photorec from cgi-security.This is a command line program so you should be at least able to follow directions.

3. Run the program and follow the prompts and answer questions accurately. This is a powerful recovery program and will be your best bet at retrieval.

4. Learn how to back up information you need to keep in the future so when issues like this occur it will not be a desperation move to try and "fix" things.

This is really no different than checking the oil in your car. If you never check it and you see the oil light its generally to late at that point. Proper Preventative maintenance is the responsibility of the owner.

If you are successful in retrieving your photos or even unsuccessful please let us know. Maybe this post will help someone else in the future. Also if you have any other issues please feel free to ask we will help all we can.

i found this here:

it seems that you just plug your evo to the pc and it will scan the device. bu i think that it will only search the sd card though. not sure that you can use that for the system partitions.

you should look into adb. it will allow you to search the system partitions on your pc via usb.
