This has to be the most Boring forum on the net

It's because the phone is a bomb, unsupported/unloved by Sony Computer Entertainment, woefully slow, I could go on, Caveat emptor!!!

I've wanted to smash mine with a hammer, many, many times. The only thing this phone has going for it is a gaming pad. I don't often have 'buyers remorse'. But this is one of those rare occassion's where I messed up and bought a crap phone. O well.

Lol, I wouldn't say angry, frustrated more like, the random crashes drive me nuts, to the point where I hardly use the phone. It is most annoying. Like I have said in another post here, when it works, it's a great little phone. It's just when it crashes doing something mundane like trying to reply to a text, I wanna throw it out the window.

I've had my fair share of phones I loved, and phones I have loathed, this one is loathsome.

Answers:

1) Internal 184mb / ext 4gb free on a 16gb card
2) texts, 150 total, if that
3) No, I am not. I shouldn't have to for the device to run smoothly

May I also add, that the phone was PERFEFT with the 2.3.2 s/w on it, once the 2.3.3 POS s/w was pushed to the phone, thats when my problems began :/

You are absolutely clueless about what this phone is capable of. Before you go on such a pathetic rant, you might try checking out some of the great mods posted on zda-developers. Even with a locked bootloader, we have been able to root the phone, remove the bloat, speed up the performance, install ClockWorkMod Recovery to do nandroid backups and come up with 3 or 4 Custom Roms with more on the way. Great themes, bootanimation replacements, tweaks of all kinds are available. This is the best phone I have ever owned and I have NO lag issues and no need for any support from SE or Verizon either.

Not rooted - and shouldn't have to for the device to run smoothly? What planet are you from, bud? There isn't a single Android device out there that doesn't benefit from being rooted and cleaned up. Or maybe you're the only person on the planet that loves all the vendor bloatware.

I don't care what phone you get, rooting will almost always allow you to make it better than it is out of the box.

@ netizenmt, I appreciate your posts, I really do, good for you that you rooted your phone and removed the bloatware. What I was referring to by saying I shouldn't have to root my phone to make it run smoother is this, my previous android device was an HTC Incredible. Since that was my only other experience with an android OS device, comparing it to the xperia play, the xperia is slow, clunky, and crashes a lot.

Sure rooting it, and removing the bloatware will make the xperia run better, point is, I shouldn't have too .

Unfortunately, we still live in a world where companies think that they need to put their stamp on every product that they sell (whether or not they make them) *cough*stupid verizon*cough*

If you do want to go back to 2.3.2, there is a way! (Note, this will do a factory reset, so you will lose everything you have stored in phone memory (i.e. apps, sms/mms, contacts not synced with google, home layouts, etc.)
If you go here,
Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Unlock Tool | Instant Xperia PLAY Unlocking by USB FREE Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Firmware Flashing and Debranding. | WotanServer.com
Sign up for a free account,
Download the client program
Turn off your phone,
Hold the back button as you plug your phone into your computer
Choose the correct firmware to flash (3.0.E.2.89) (Xperia PLAY 3.0.E.2.89 Firmware Download. Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Unlock Tool | Instant Xperia PLAY Unlocking by USB FREE Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Firmware Flashing and Debranding. | WotanServer.com)

You'll be back on 2.3.2... you'll just have to deny updating every time it pops up.
