Help Two phones in a row won't charge

Just got my third replacement in the mail, and this one won't charge either. My first, original phone was great, had a few minor issues but otherwise worked fine. Really wish I didn't drop that one in water. -__-

Anyone have any ideas on fixing the charging port? Even temporarily? Both of them charge when turned off, but refuse to charge when turned on, which is really aggravating.
Also, the second one was the 6/11 model and this third one is the 5/11 model. Has anyone actually received a new replacement? /:

The fact that it charges while off is strange... Have you tried other cables? It may be that your cable is damaged and isn't letting enough volts and amps get to the phone to charge it while its on...

Yeah, I've tried two different cables and batteries. My first triumph (a 6/11 model) charged fine with the same cables I'm trying now.
The second one usually recognizes the cable for maybe half a second (the LED blinks red) then refuses to charge. I got it to charge maybe twice by luck and repeatedly inserting/removing the cable.
The third one doesn't blink at all. The screen lights up when I insert the cable but does not charge.
Yet both charge perfectly when turned off...

EDIT: Also, I tried the same charger on an entirely different phone on a different network and it works just fine, both with the phone on and off. So I don't think it's a charger issue.

Well then you may have to get another replacement then or you can try this first and see if that helps.

Tried that, still no go. I got it to blink red a few times but that's about it.

Then I would get another replacement from VM I know it may be a pain, but hopefully the next one won't have that problem.

Please look on your charger and see what the mA (or amp) rating is. Some chargers that can't supply enough current exhibit exactly this behavior. If its less than 500mA, (like 350 or so) I would recommend trying to find one of at least 1 amp (850mA should do). I got a 2 amp one that came with a car charger and 2 USB cables for less than $20. If you have a car charger, try that and report back. They usually are capable of more current.
If none of this helps, I'm at a loss.

Well, I tried two USB chargers today and they both worked. Weird.
What's even weirder is the wall charger is 700mA and the USB one is only 400mA. But the USB one works, even though it has less current.
Plus, the same wall chargers worked with my first triumph.
I called in to have another replacement though, before I found out the USB chargers work. So hopefully I don't get a phone with another issue altogether.

Well, your first phone could have somehow damaged the charger. Sounds like your real issue is the Motorola charger. FWIW: chargers are cheap on eBAY, even the ones for the car. When I buy, I go OEM. I don't buy generic if I'm not compelled to.

Just got the replacement in the mail. It works fine with the exact same chargers that didn't work on the old one. I even tried it on the old one again just to be sure and it still doesn't work. Strange, but hopefully this one's a keeper.

That's good... Your old one must have had a problem that wasn't allowing the proper voltage/ amperage to charge the phone enter. Hope you don't have any other problems!
