Help Known issues with the Galaxy Nexus

A couple minor issues I have seen in the month I have had it:

Double text messages, happens quite frequently.

When on an app with the three dot menu button at the bottom right, if phone locks, upon turning the screen back on, the menu button is still visible, and with slide to unlock, the menu button will also unlock the phone. (Doesn't occur on more secure locking methods, so I don't consider this a security issue).

3G to 4G handoff isn't perfect, Occasionally will get stuck on 3G in areas I know has 4G, and I have to toggle airplane mode to get 4G to come back.

Hello can anyone help me? I have two questions, 1st one I took my phone into Verizon to get a case and screen protectors. As she was looking at my phone she noticed that I have Lookout downloaded and she said that I need to uninstall that app ASAP or I will have problems down the road with my phone. I had Lookout on my Droid X and did not have any problems. She said that the androids already have virus protection. Can anyone tell me if they know whether or not Lookout will cause problems with the android system. 2nd question is I installed 3D flip clock and the 3rd package and when I open it it takes me to a page that tells me how to install the widget. I cannot open the widget to install it. How do I get to the widgets? PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you,
Jackie:rolleyes:

1. Personally, I don't like lookout, its not needed IMO. that said it should cause any issues with your phone...

2. Widgets instal different on ICS, click the app icon at the bottom of the screen, if you look at the app screen there is a "widget" tab at the top, "long" press the widget you want and drag it to your home screen.

I couldn't find a thread about this issue yet but my VZW SGN seems to have issues calculating my storage. When I go to settings/storage it shows internal storage, total space and available right away but all the other categories (apps, pictures/videos, audio, etc) show "calculating", for several minutes before showing how much storage is being used by each item. I'm only using about 1.75 GB of storage on 28.13 GB of total available space so it seems like a long time to calculate that much storage. I assume this is only going to get worse as I use up more storage. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks!

OK I am having a problem with autosync, and it seems like some others have it as well, but I've not seen it mentioned in this thread.

It seems like auto syncing just doesn't work for me at all. I thought at first that light flow was broken, then I realized that light flow couldn't be giving me notifications because my phone didn't even realize I had new emails. I manually synced >30 minutes ago and it still hasn't autosynced since then. I don't know the normal frequency of syncing, but I assume it should be faster than that. I even restarted the phone and it didn't sync after it started back up.

FWIW I am rooted, and sadly I didn't really notice if it was syncing properly before I did it. I did get a few notifications, but I don't know how frequently it was going because I don't get all that many texts/emails.

Another potential problem is that I have a lot of apps that I'm afraid might be interfering, so I'm gonna test what happens if I uninstall them. Light Flow and Juice Defender are at the top of my list...

Anyone else having problems with auto sync?

I was having this problem as well. Whenever I locked my phone and unlocked it, my signal bars would be grey. Data would work fine, but Gmail wouldn't recieve emails until my phone was unlocked and bars turned blue.

I disabled Juice Defender and that seemed to solve the issue for me. Just registered to share that :)

That's exactly how JD is supposed to work and where it's big battery savings come. For some, this isn't a crippling experience. For others, such as me and apparently you, it is, which I why I also stopped using JD.

I see that nobody complains about a basic function for a phone not a smartphone. My Galaxy Nexus vibrating level is very low. When is in vibrate mode only and somebody is calling me and i have my phone in the pocket there is no chance to feel it. In fact if my phone is on the table on vibrate mode and somebody is calling you can't hear nothing at all. I can feel the phone in vibrate mode only in my hand but very low.... It is only my phone like this ?

I don't think thin smartphone are suppose to be strong vibrators. If it was thicker I could see your point but since a vibrator needs space to spin I think this is normal.

Had mine for about a month now, too, and I can confirm these issues, except I don't get the double text messages.

Also, the "recent apps" soft-button has an unacceptable amount of lag.

And I've recently noticed that whatever glass is used is not very "finger-drag-friendly" (hope that makes sense).

And the lightflow app works quite well, except that when the LED lights up, it isn't crisp like the default white LED was... instead, it almost looks like a lightbulb that is struggling, and about to die.

And finally, can somebody PLEASE tell me when the effing 4.0.3 OTA update is coming??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I just read on Android Police that the XOOM tablet got it today. I thought Nexus devices were supposed to be first!!

Anyone having an issue listening to MP3s through a local player i.e. playerpro? I have been noticing that periodically music will start clicking or get jumpy or even have static noise when playing back and the screen is off. As soon as I turn the screen on the issue is immediately resolved. It seems to happen only with the screen off and only some of the time. Turning the screen back on immediately resolves the issue...

Thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

I just received my G-Nex yesterday.

When I tried to download 'My Apps' from Market, I got an error message "Cannot download due to an error". It happens every time regardless of the App I'm tried to download.

I then hit the back button and the download progress bar is there as if downloading the requested app. But it just stays there in progress forever and the "stop" button is ineffective, i.e. it does nothing.

Today Market doesn't even load. But none of these issues occur with other android phones.

This issue occurs regardless of location, signal strength or any other possibilities. Reboot does not fix. Problem resumes with exact same display of 'downloading' apps after clearing cache and Force closing.

Anyone help?

Go to settings, data service or whatever (sry I don't have the phone with me) find the MMS and MOWAP settings, and switch the proxy on the MOWAP to nothing.

Does anyone have an issue with the camera under the following conditions:

Open camera app and be in portrait mode for stills.
Take some pics in portait mode.
Switch to landscape mode and take some pics.
Hit your home button
Run some other app, wordfeud or moboplayer as an example
Turn off the screen.
Turn the screen back on.
Try to open the camera app.

For me, often it shows a locked view as if it tried to open in landscape mode and didn't know how to flip back to portrait. You try to hit "home" and it won't go as if the camera app has stopped working.

Eventually I get a message that it can't connect to the camera.

Only solution is to reboot and then go back in, which is time consuming and annoying when you are trying to snap a quick photo.

AM i the only one experiencing this issue? Stock rom, no unlocks/no rooting.

my issues - purchased just before christmas from mobicity - unlocked GSM 3G version.

random lock-ups necesitating removal of battery, and rebooting by itself every now and then. also sometimes will become unresponsive (for instance the camera application wouldn't load, had to reboot for it to work again)

screen too sensitive to rotating to landscape mode but really hesitant to change back to portrait

when importing contact data from contacts saved on the SIM card it only imports the first number loaded for each contact, where most my contacts would have home, work, mobile saved. el cheapo sony ericsson was able to import all contact details

when using the standard music player, sometimes songs will sound distorted (like a static or chopping up) when the screen goes to standby, but pressing power button to bring up unlock screen restores the sound quality

wifi bar display will loose its 'sections' and turns into one whole shape (if that makes sense), and will remain grey despite data being transferred via WiFi. I think this may be related to easy battery saver as I noticed it happening after I installed it

the battery cover raises up slightly on one side as if a clip is not clipped in (it's one of the hook ones) yet I was very careful to first fit the cover. cover is very fiddly to fit.

when calling someone on skype the recipient couldn't hear me, but after re-starting the phone and calling again they could. has happened frequently and I have to re-start the phone every time, regardless how many times I close/log out of skype or call the recipient before hand.

sometimes the screen locker is erratic, I could be browsing a site and the screen will go from bright to dim then back to bright again and then will lock, takes about 10-15 seconds to do so from when last scrolling on the page to when the screen locks itself. I have the screen lock time out set to 60 seconds.

I noticed that the notification LED would turn green for SMS messages and white for e-mails, but now new SMS only show up as a slow white flash of the LED yet facebook messenger will still show up a solid green.

thanks, added my feedback to that thread

i've also been experiencing a lot of random reboots lately. seems to happen mostly when hitting a soft menu button, not sure which one, back or home.

the random reboots and camera lock are extremely irritating and need to be addressed by whomever (google or samsung) immediately. other than that, the phone has no other major issues. the signal going from 3g to 4g could use some speedier improvement, but less critical than the random reboots and camera failures

I searched Galaxy Nexus Forum but returned no match. It seems I'm the only one having this problem, though google returned the same problem from other phones. My Google Voice Search is not working anymore. It worked before. But for now it returned Server Problem instantly. I tried to clean up Google Search Cache, reboot, as suggested by others. But none helps. Appreciate if anyone can shed a light! It's a shame that one of the most attracting features is not working.

A have a strange one

when i click my stock music app (headphones icon) in the app drawer it doesn't open my music player, it opens the last app i was running, be it browser, market, zedge, whatever.

In order to play music i had to add the music widget to a homescreen. I can play songs from there, or i can click the name and it launches music. This also seems to have fixed the problem with the icon now.

Strange.

The only work-around I've found is to use Tasker. I set up an event that turns down the ringer/notification volume whenever headphones are plugged in. And it reverts the sound back to normal when the headphones are removed. Next, I added events for incoming call, text message, and email to play sounds through the media stream (the media stream seems to behave correctly when headphones are plugged in - only playing sound through the headphones).

Don't know if you're still following this thread, MysterX, but if you wouldn't mind exporting those profiles and sharing them with me I'd certainly appreciate it -- if you haven't hit on another solution yet.
