Root [CDMA] Go to first new post [ROM] STOCK 2.17.651.5 Update.zip + Radio/Firmware bits

I noticed on XDA that some people are getting bricks, see the end of TrevE's thread on XDA. :(

I think I'll stick with going to Scott's CleanROM. I was initially surprised when I didn't see a host of of OTA rom updates here, then I noticed this from Scott's site -

Any news about CleanRom 3.0?

I think I'm going to skip this whole update, loggers and all. Per usual, the dev community is ahead of the curve.

You should give the Xplod Rom a shot, you can always restore, I think you will like it, it is different and you might like it.

FYI, I have been tracking that thread and if I keep seeing issues, I may pull the file from here just to protect our members. If you hear anything also and don't like what you hear, go ahead and pull this file.

XDA's threads move way too fast to even give arbitrary terms like "end of the thread" :p

But, before I saw this post, I flashed Freeza's AIO zip. Booted up, no problems, moved PG86IMG.zip out of root of /sdcard. Rebooted back into bootloader, radio is updated, HBOOT 1.40 S-OFF. Went into recovery, cleared cache / dalvik, rebooted into Android. Everything seems ok so far.

Charging the device up to full. I noticed when I just flashed the radio alone, it would crash shortly after deleting batterystats.bin. So I want to see if I can recreate that issue. I'm hoping the radio was calling on something that wasn't there because the other pieces of the firmware were out of date.

And I only flashed the new radio because of the battery improvements. Who doesn't like more battery? :D I'll let you guys know. Currently running CleanROM DE 2.0 preview w/ Anthrax kernel. Although, I'm thinking about going back to tiamat.

Edit: But yeah, I'm not surprised either that no ROM authors are rushing to put this update into their ROMs. Besides the new firmware, it's really just Peep that's getting an update. Most ROMs use a custom kernel. Considering the reports of bricks, I might wait on the stock kernel for a bit. Oh, and they updated Peep. I deleted Peep.

Further edit: My phone is still stable after 3 1/2 hours of idle. Still reading 99%

Any further word? I've been holding off to hear a bit more anecdotal evidence that people are having good luck with it.

I have flashed Freeza's AIO zip sometime last night. I've been calibrating my phone's battery. I'm currently at 22 hours uptime with light use in the morning and then near constant Pandora usage for 6 hours. Everything appears good for me. But the radio does seem to be a bit more power efficient.
