Root Rooting Problem

Hello there, this is my first post. I have been browsing awhile but decided to sign up when I couldnt get root working correctly. Small shout out to my programming community leetcoders.org (i apologize if this is not allowed.)

I successfully rooted my droid bionic 2.3.4 on system 5.5.893 by utilizing Petes Motorola Root Tools. However, after a few days of using it, a message came up on my screen saying I had to update my droid. So i let it update. This was a day of so before the new year. Ever since then, my root apps wont work, they say I dont have root access. So, i go back to petes tool and run root. It doesnt work. I have tried using the unrooting tool, then rerooting it which i did several times.
I also have tried using the one by dhacker29 and selected the second option. That did not work, so I selected the 3rd option.

I still can not get root access, any ideas why? Thanks!

What update are you on? Did you first root 5.5.863 not 5.5.893? The reason I ask is the current ota is 5.5.893 or 5.9.901 for some.

Right now on my screen it says the build is 5.5.1_84_DBN-21 and the system version is 5.5.893. I have no idea what those were before it updated, I only payed attention to the 2.3.4 android version because of a guide I saw on pete's.

Ok. you are on the current OTA. You need to use p3droids one click.

Here is a link to the thread. the one click method is at the bottom of post #2. You will need to unzip this file and the run the runme

1 Click for .893

Then use releashed to forever root option 4. Releashed

well i was nervous but i rooted my phone today with the same thing Dfib used and it worked I also downloaded the Sqlite editor to make some changes in my phone seems to be working great and its doing what i rooted it for... Now i just have to figure out what to do when this new update comes out

If you didn't remove any apps and are completely stock (other then rooted) you will be able to receive the OTA. I would advice against it though until a developer can make sure you won't loose root.

i have the droid bionic my system version is 5.9.902 and i have tried and tried again to root my phone and it does two of the three things but then it says root failed. i also have a mac. please help me.

Me too. The strange thing is that a couple weeks ago I rooted my Bionic which was also 5.9.902 without issue. That same Bionic fell on the tile floor and shattered the screen a week later. I just got my replacement phone, which appears to be the same exact phone with the same versions etc. I tried SuperOneClick and Moto One Click Root... and neither one them seemed to do a thing.

SuperOneClick worked for me before.. but this time is freezes on one of the last steps waiting for the phone to respond. MotoOneClickRoot... seemed to work.. it did it's thing and told me I should be good to go. Then I open up Titanium Backup.. and it tells me "Sorry.. dumbass.. you don't have root" (or something like that).

So... now I'm wondering if Motorola did something to make the latest versions of the phones un-rootable? Not sure what's going on.
