It's a bit OT, but I was curious of your thoughts about SAPO and all the blackouts today?
I signed the petition on Google. And, I'd love to contact my state rep. but alas I don't have one... (the joys of being a DC resident)
The video posted on Phandroid was a great summation of the details. I implore everyone to at least check it out and do whatever you can to stop this legislation from going through.
(sorry for the political monolaugue, just thought it was relevant for all of us who are maybe/possibly "stealing" software...)

Congrats on that! A good friend of ours won a Galaxy Slider (not sure which model) on Woot and traded it through Swappa (she was very thankful for my recommendation) for a Galaxy Tab 10.1. She brought it over last night and I got out mine which has a completely destroyed screen to give her my case. I looked up on XDA and it seems there's been quite a bit of development on the 10.1, so I'll do everything to get her on the Android train. She has a 3GS but her boyfriend just got a Nexus and is a complete geek. We're getting close!

Anyway, how is ICS treating the Xoom? Wonder if it's sped things up at all?

Good Morning Everyone. So I got my NFC tags in the mail yesterday, playing around with them this morning.

To my surprise they will work through my very thick desk, however they won't work on my cube walls (Where I was gonna put my to meeting/back from meeting tag.) I am wondering if there is too much static electricity or something. Once I get comfortable with NFC task manager, I will add tasker and start going crazy.

I think this bill is an awful idea. Mainly because the vast majority of sites such as this one already self police. This is massive government overreach at its finest.

CM just released ICS for the HP touchpad and its so nice to finally have a tablet OS running on it, GB sucks on tablets

Read the bills in their entirety, scary! More and more regulations that won't stop the bad guys but have far reaching implications for those of us who already follow the rules.

He said he was opposed to the DNS issue, (which had already been pulled from the bill before his statement, so its not like he went out on a limb or anything). But the rest of the bill he hasn't made a statement either way.

Wug said to just delete it. That's what I did. No issues.

I got mine in a couple days ago.

1.) Took the light switch plate off by my entrance door from the garage and put a tag there to turn all my notification/ringer volumes up to max, turn on wifi and connect to my home router, and check in to home.

2.) Took one to work and put it underneath my desk thinking it would read through it, but it's too thick (1.5") but it's ok, I just slide my phone underneath the desk and it turns off all data connections and turns sync off when I read it the first time. The second time it undoes all of that for when I leave work. Since I don't have good signal here I just turn everything off and if I really need to check something I turn it on manually and walk outside and wait for a signal.

"Gooey" is typical for GUI. Althought "G" "U" "I" is also acceptable.

I an in a quandary. I recently decided to build a desktop PC to replace my Macbook Pro. The reason for doing that is our main use of the Macbook was photo and video editing and web browsing. Obviously the MB Pro is overkill for web browsing, but only having 200GB is no where near enough storage to hold the amount of photos and videos we take. I got tired of having to go find my external drive and hook it up and pick out which photos we needed to move off of the MB and which ones were already there and which ones needed to stay, etc.

So, now that we have a desktop fully capable of editing and storing photos with 1TB hdd and ability to easily expand in the future, the MB Pro has been sold. We have another Toshiba satellite that is perefectly capable of handling anything we would need a laptop to do (Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz with 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD).

What I want now to add to that mix is something that is relatively cheap, more portable than the laptop with good battery life. I need it to be able to read Google Books and browse the web (wifi...3g not needed) and possibly be able to create minimalistic documents (Google Docs maybe).

I had thought about a Chromebook, but they seem too pricey for what they are. Very limited in their capability and I've ready they get extremely slow after a few months of use. Have also considered an Asus Transformer, Kindle Fire (lack of ability to use Google Books and limiting to Amazon kindle books turns me off)... Any suggestions from you guys?

I'm in a similar situation. My wife's laptop died a few weeks ago ad I've been contimplating what to buy.

I'm not an apple guy and they are too expensive, I've already got my Galaxy Nexus, HP Touchpad w/ICS and a Nook Color and a powerhouse desktop. So I really just want something from my wife to play Sims and maybe watch a DVD on the go and some minor android dev stuff... I've settled on getting a Refurbished HP Laptop. Compusa has a great 17.3in LED w/4GB ram, Phenom II processor and 9 cell battery for like $439. Fairly cheap but pretty powerful. They also have the same DV7 series w/bluray and a Intel I5 model w/6GB ram for 549 I think... its a pretty good deal. I should be ordering mine soon

And honestly if your not looking to do Windows specific things, I'd get a transformer prime with the dock.... my friend had a first Gen transformer with the dock and I'd totally take it over a chromebook... ICS is an amazing tablet platform

perhaps bb can chime in (i think she's got the ipad) but i'm under the impression only android tablets would work for google books. and it appears that's really what you're looking for.

for reading, i really like the smaller form factors of the kindle/nook/7in tab variety. and plenty big enough to view pictures and share. the galaxy tab and ipad IMO are nice if you plan on being really interactive with apps/games, etc... but if it's just for reading, i personally like the smaller tablets.

Having both form factors for tablets I will admit that the 7in is more fitted for mobility, but the Transformer dock is the most amazing thing ever. It really is 2 devices in one. There are times I'm at home and want a dock and laptop, and there are times I'm out and want to hold it.

But for reading, nothing beats a Nook Color or Nook tablet..

I do have the iPad. It's great if you use iTunes for things and it is travel friendly. But it is definitely limited in some aspects such as the whole no flash issue. And there are not nearly as many free apps (of good quality) as android.
