Battery Life Contest. Who can go the longest on a charge?

With all the negative talk about battery life with the Galaxy Nexus, I thought we should have a contest to see who can go the longest on a single charge. Not just standby time but we can see who can get the most talk time or screen time on a single charge. Have some fun with this.

Post a screen shot for proof. Post battery info, standard or extended. Give details such as screen time, CPU total, keep awake, call time, ect.



I'll start:

I went 3 Days and 4 hours and 22 minutes on a single charge with the standard battery. I could have went longer if I used the phone less. Also I drove out of town and it may have used a little more then normal trying to maintain a signal. I used the phone less then normal during this time. Usually I charge my phone every night and unplug it in the morning and its between 40-60% at midnight with my normal use. I'm fine with the battery life.

I'm sure its not. I did not turn airplane mode on, ever. However, I wonder how long it would last if it was on the whole time. But I like most, like to have an operational phone with at all times.

I can't go that long not using my phone as it is my only phone, but I've had a couple 30+ hour charges on standard battery.

This particular one was just shy of 2hrs screen on time & 40 minutes of voice calls. 2 email accts push notifying, texting, and weather auto-updating every hour. 90% of the time on WIFI and mobile network signal/4G at home is around -105dbm. Still had 28% left

So in 75 hours you used your phone for 3 hours and the rest of the 72 hours the phone was asleep.

I agree. I didn't buy the phone to leave the screen off all the time.

When I left it unplugged the other night, it was at 100% @ 10:00pm, and was at 87% at 11:00am the next morning. From that, I can estimate it drops about 1% an hour when I have all of my normal syncing on (weather, emails, Facebook, etc.). So, not using it, I should be able to go 4 days.

It doesn't sound like fun to go 4 days carrying around a phone I'm not using, though. May as well just leave it at home.

It doesnt have to be all about standby time. The contest could also be about who can get the most talk time or screen time out of a single charge. I understand that people in this forum like to use their phones.

Either way. I guess it would be more fair if we kept it limited to lte. Move it if you want.

On my Droid X with extended battery, I am able to get 14 days in airplane mode.
On my Droid Bionic with extended battery, I am able to get 11 days in airplane mode.
On my Gnex with extended battery, I am able to get 7 days in airplane mode.

During this testing, phone was wiped back to factory stock, no sync going on, phone left in airplane mode, screen left off. Waited until it gave low battery warning (5% remaining).

I think the single core of the Droid X gave it a longer life with a smaller battery (1840mah), and the huge battery of the bionic (2730mah) gave it the edge in dual core standby.

Overall on a typical day, I can get a good solid 16 to 20 hours of moderate use/standby with the extended battery.

Hoping the radio update that is coming with 4.0.3 will improve that even more.

there are days when something strange causes the battery to drain completely dead within 4 hours, all while the phone is in standby sitting on my desk. Since I uninstalled swype, that has only happened once, where as it was happening everyday when swype was installed.

Wow! What settings do you have running? (rom/kernel/gov/etc). I am already at 50% and have only had the phone on for 4 hrs (2 hrs screen time).

That screenshot was from aokp build 12 leankernel 1.2 on interactiveX governor with no voltage tweaks. Note that ~90% of that time I was on WIFI so that certainly helps. I'm on aokp 17 now and still run 1.2.1 leankernel. Results are comparable so far (I just went back to lean 1.2.1 last night because of my experiences with excellent battery life with it).

I'm getting maybe 10-12 hours with 2 hours screen time. Im on WIFI all the time...

Yup WIFI set to "always on" and 2 emails syncing push and weather syncing every hour.

I'm not sure what you are saying. Could you post up a couple of screen shots of your battery usage? Also one of your screen on time (just tap "screen") and Android OS (just tap it)?

I don't exactly understand what the "Keep awake" does and why it's so much higher than the CPU time and Screen on time.

Thanks for posting those! Your battery life doesn't look abnormal to me I'm assuming you are stock right, no root not unlocked? I do notice a few red lines on your graph which says you had no mobile connection. This will eat a battery in half.

The whole Android OS keeping awake (that is just one thread) thing is something that has been posted about ad nauseum, it accounts for a lot of stuff running on your phone which would seem somewhat normal. What isn't normal is how long it is keeping it awake. Google should hopefully have a fix for us soon. Don't worry too much about it we are all experiencing it in varying degrees.

Those are due to my LTE radio eating itself and resetting all of the radios multiple times per day. I've noticed it definitely hits battery pretty hard, particularly the times when it's in my pocket and I don't notice signal is gone and it will search until I reboot. Atleast it gives me the pleasant alert that this is happening by making my thighs feel all warm and...well just warm. This thing gets alarmingly hot when searching for a signal...
