Petition to Asus to repair or replace TF201 with WiFi/GPS issues

Signed just now.

Copy of my comments.
I had one of these on order. I really wanted to buy one but when I read all the problems people were having with it, I canceled my order. I will wait for a better model, BUT!! Asus sold the original TP as a working unit and if it does not work as described they should fix it, replace it or refund it.
It is extremely bad business practice for them to sell half a working unit at full price and then tell their customers tuff.
I have purchased many a Asus product in the past but them abandoning current customers after they paid aprox 600.00 for this tablet would force me to take my business to another company.

Honestly you need to call Asus and report your trouble. Make sure you have your S/N handy.

Thank you!!

I will also be posting it on their FB pages repeatedly (since im sure mods will take it down)

What you can do to take this a step further ... go onto any of their FB pages and go to their Wall, find members who post on there. Then send each member a message asking them to go sign!

Oh hell no lol. Im waiting until i see a confirmation that the back has been replaced, repaired, or any other solution.

I love my prime too much to send it off and sit around for 4 months while they figure it out lol

but it sucks i need to sit on top of my router, or within a certain range.

How do you know it is the back? It could be something as stupid as the wifi not being plugged in all the way correctly causing a bad signal. Or, It could be firmware problem. It could be the wifi thats in there is defective.

Don't make assumptions just based on hysteria. You gotta call and trouble shoot the actual problem.

People thought the earth was flat because it made sense. Just because it makes sense that doesn't make it a fact.

You do realize i had the option to return, and gave it up? Why do i feel like you hate me .. because you think i hate the prime?

I really like my prime. The single only tiny bitty issue i have, is weak wifi. I dont want a money refund, I am willing to be patient and see what ASUS can do for us.

what?

I'm saying you should call Asus and say "hey i'm having problems with my wifi and here's what I've tried"

You might be surprised and they say "oh ok well there's a firmware update for that problem" Or! You'll have to send it in for them to fix it.

Asus can't fix what they don't know about. Don't assume.

No one calls and everyone just says "Well i'll wait and see what asus does" and then you all get pissed off and mad because Asus didn't fix the problem.
Mean while Asus is like "no one called to report the problem".

Even Gary from Asus is like "every one is complaining but no one can provide a serial number making me think they don't own the product".

Like don't you understand how this works? You have a problem, you call tech support to report the problem, Asus fixes your problem.

I'm sure if there were a firmware update, Asus would have pushed it by now.

My wifi works fine and everything else..........except for GPS.........which is one of the main reasons I signed the petition and also contacted Asus via email..........still waiting on their latest reply.
When I purchased my Prime, GPS was listed as a feature. And it was listed as "GPS", not "Limited GPS" or "So-So GPS" , but as I understood it, "Fully GPS Capable" ! Just because Asus removed GPS as one of the features from their spec sheet and now says GPS was never meant to be a fully capable feature does not make a difference to those of us, who purchased the device while GPS was listed as a feature. I believe it's called false advertising and while I plan on keeping my Prime, I believe those of us who purchased their primes, while GPS was listed on the spec sheet should receive one of the following :
1. Some type of rebate check
2. Discount off accessories or docks
3. Free shipping, both ways, to fix GPS issue, if one is found
4. Full refund !

signed, a free rplacement of the backplate to fix the issues would be the decent thing of them to do, not sure whether they will or not but anything will be better then nothing.

Even if you are happy with your prime can you please sign this. Who knows, asus may take notice and give us free stuff as a peace deal if enough people complain.

Yes, that comment will look good when an Asus representitive reads this thread

I don't understand all this petition crap. If you're not happy with the tablet, just return it for a refund from where you bought it and get something else. No one is forcing you to keep it.

I'm happy with my prime, but if something is broken..... Gps...... I expect it to be fixed to my satisfaction!

So, using your reason of thinking, if you buy a new car that you love everything about and that advertised built-in Gps, then get home and the Gps doesn't work you will return said car for a full refund instead of letting the manufacturer fix the Gps issue!

Did I sum up your mindset then or are you just a fanboi that believes Asus can do no wrong?

I don't want free stuff tbh, I would just like a concrete fix for the issues.

That comment was simply a lure to get more people to sign so the issue can be resolved, with a case replacement if that is indeed what is needed.

Im finding ways around the wifi issues but i really shouldn't have to tbh. I would prefer them to fix the 1 issue i care about with my prime.

I agree 100%. Money is not the issue for me, in fact i plan on buying the iPad3 for my family so they can get their damn hands off my prime lol.

But i would like to have the Wi-Fi fixed properly, or at least an attempt!! Dont sell it to me, then walk away after the sale.

Not at all. I've got mine on order due for delivery next week. If after a day with it, I realise there are issues with wifi and bluetooth, I will return it for a refund. Then I'll wait and buy something from a competitor like Samsung instead.

GPS doesn't interest me. If I want sat nav, I'll use my android phone or tomtom. So that's not relevant for me. However, if any other function was having widespread failure, I would return it. Simple.

If my new car developed a fault like a transmission failure which was a known weak spot, I'd return it and walk in to a competitors dealership to spend my money.

I could understand all this petition stuff if the function failures were happening after a year, for example, and it's out of warrant and lost all resale value etc, but you have the choice to return your Prime and get a full refund to buy something better. It baffles me.

Err................Bestbuy has a 14 day return window, which expired before Asus, who I thought would fix whatever issues the Prime had, decided to do absolutely nothing about the GPS issue ! So to whom do I return it too ?

Again, I will say, when I purchased my Prime , under the specs, it said "GPS", not "Crippled GPS" or "So-So GPS" !

You return it to Best Buy. You don't listen to the peon at the counter who says its past 14 days. Ask for a manager and when they get there you point out that Asus admitted a flaw. I had the site already pulled up on my iPhone to show. Got a full refund on 3 primes.

Why call BB folks names? They are only doing what they are supposed to and 14 days is the policy. It is up to the store manager to adjust, but impacts his/her bottom line, if not company approved.

The reason it is now 14 days is some rubes were using BB and others as a rental store (by design). Oops, I called a name too.

That all said, Asus should simply revise the pack panel and move on, plus offer the rework for current owners (if they ask).

everyone keeps saying it is the back panel, but if the gps signal can be interupted so easily by a aluminum panel that typically is not facing in the direction of the satellites, then that would tell me that the real problem is that the gps should be mounted on the display side of the motherboard, beneath the glass somewhere so it has a clean line of sight. course we are talking about gps and satellites - the same concept that when it rains hard enough your direct tv goes out (mine went out if you sneezed by my dish). or satellite radio that can cut out going in above ground parking garages/under over passes and someitmes going under large overhanging trees. i cycle and mountain bike and know a number of people that use garmins on their road bikes with little trouble, but on a mountain bike in the woods, they aren't worth a damn.

so instead of everyone assuming its the back cover, maybe you should know what you are talking about.
