Apple claims gnex copies iphone slide to lock

If someone needed an indication of whether the Nexus was doing well in sales or not, here we have it.

Any way, this will go nowhere i believe. This is a Google phone, and the claim is based on Google's software (all other patent suits against Samsung devices were based on Touchwiz). Unlike Samsung, Google has one significant way to fight back: the notification bar slide in iOS5. Good luck with that one, Apple.

Apple's patent attorneys need to get stabbed in the face.

I am all for protecting innovation, but Apple is simply suing everyone based on fluff design elements. Not even quality design elements. I mean, part of their lawsuit against Samsung was that they had a tablet whose form factor resembled an iPad. What did you want it to look like? It's a black slab covered in glass. If I pulled my HP TouchPad out in public, people would ask how I liked my iPad.

The lawyers that represent Apple really need to get a life. Apple has "borrowed" plenty of ideas from others, unfortunately in many cases, the original idea owners don't have the resources to endlessly litigate like the fruit company does.

One of many reasons that I refuse to buy any Apple product.

Take a look at the 1984 Apple Superbowl commercial, and it is easy to see that Apple has changed places with the antagonist (Microsoft).

I'm surprised Apple hasn't claimed a patent on the invention of the Phone! Ridiculous to be honest...

Well, Jobs did claim they reinvented the phone in 2007's iPhone announcement, and they are notorious for filling patent suits on features and products that have been out for months (or in this particular case, years), so there's still time. There's a lot of homework to be done before suing every single phone manufacturer and carrier in the world, anyway.

Now that i think of it, they are suing every single phone manufacturer in the world already, aren't they?

Honestly...Steve Jobs to me is an Icon! He's largely responsible for the way the World operates at this time, mainly of course the Tech Side of it...

He was pretty much the Thomas Edison of our time...very important figure indeed.

However...this nonsense with the way Apple operates is just plain ridiculous! And I mean RIDICULOUS!!!

It has pretty much turned me off to Apple as a whole. I own nothing made by then at all. The way they are taking everyone to court is just plain crazy. That's like Mercedes going after BMW because they also have Panoramic sunroofs in they're cars! Seriously....this needs to stop!

Well, apple hates android...so, what do u expect?? They are heated competitors! You guys act like this is something new in ANY industry where competition is close and fierce. And the fact that apple is winning some of the suits means that someone else also agrees. Now, if apple loses all their suits, then I agree with u guys...but this is NOT the case. Lets not stick our heads too far up that we lose objectivity!

And i doubt that the lawyers and patent offices around the world work for free...so, unless Apple just want to throw their money out the window, there is usually a basis/reason/angle for these suits.

Nature of the tech industry....

So, if you guys were head of Apple, then you guys would not do what Apple is doing?? (Note, Apple IS in fact winning some of the suits around the world.) So, you guys would just lay low and let some companies/manufacturers get away with copying your technology/innovation. (Again, lets get this clear, Apple is indeed winning some of the suits.)

Are some of these suits petty? Sure, but if Apple wins some of them, then this will slow things down a little bit for the competitors...and in a world where technology goes by so fast, any slowing is a benefit, right? Remember, even if Apple loses, it still slows down the competition or at least forces the competition to stutter or look for other routes of doing things.

Either you guys make horrible bosses or you guys are extremely naive!

hahahahahahahahahahaha!

Buddy, SERIOUSLY? Repeat what you said out loud! And then think about it...

Do you see BMW going at Mercedes Benz or Audi for now having the knob to control the Radio/Nav interface on the console? Yes BMW was first to have it, then Audi, and now Mercedes! And I'm pretty sure those car companies are all in competition. Your points are moot at best. To agree with what Apple does is just hard headed, and sounds like your an Apple follower, which is cool...but just understand that your in an Android Forum. I used to like Apple, now they make me sick! They've become the Angry Evil Empire... Your opinion is your open opinion, but your points are pretty closed minded.

And to your point about some of us being a terrible boss, I run a business, and am considered pretty successful, as well as a good Boss....so slow down killa..

Remind me, does BMW or Mercedes make the infoentertainment systems for their cars??? Nope. So, before giving examples, one needs to understand it better before lecturing.

And ya know, some consider al Capone a good guy too....

And remind me, if these suits are BS, then why is apple winning some of them??!! Logic dictates otherwise!

First off wise guy! The lock screens are totally different.... so the whole thing is plain BS! Just like you being on this Forum talking junk...just plain Junk!

So now who ever wins in court means its the right thing to do? Meaning the truth always comes out? No it means who's the best lier most of the time, and who's paid off....yes u mentioned Al Capone...lol, what do u know about Al Capone...prob nothing.

Did OJ not slice his wife's head off in broad day light....hmmm, he won too! Its not what u know, its what u can prove!

Are u kidding me with your analogies?

And who cares who makes the knobs in the cars....the point is they all followed BMW....

The point is that your points are directed at saying Apple is right....they're not, not one bit...

This conversation is over...Not my style to go back and fourth with someone who has basically backed a company that actually has zero to do with this Forum. Yes this an Android Forum, not an Apple Forum. And what Apple is doing is stupid, plain and simple.

A terrible and massively broken patent system is neither justification for suing in lieu of competing, nor is it evidence of Apple being right in doing so.

It's pretty clear that Apple tries to squash competition through petty lawsuits rather than competing fairly.

I couldn't have said it better...Petty is the perfect way to describe it!

Again, Sean, if this suit is so junky, then why is Apple wasting money and resources on it?? I doubt that Tim Cook et al. would just throw money away for nothing. THINK ABOUT THIS BEFORE RESPONDING...and stop being so damn childish with your attacks! BTW, i do have an Android/Google phone...just in case you have not notice!

BMW outsources their infoentertainment systems. The people who design the BMW iDrive is Microsoft...Windows CE for auto. Navigation is by becker and uses Navteq early on before going to HD...which then switches to TeleAtlas nav stored on HDD. Audi MMI uses Media Oriented Systems Transport tech along with QNX operating system. Blah blah. My point is that they are all quite different from each other in how they work...and manufactured by many smaller companies. None of them are alike other than the knob. So, your analogy is worthless.

As for OJ...really?! Dude, Apple has won cases ALL OVER THE WORLD, in varioius court systems...NOT JUST THE USA. Comparing OJ trial to Apple is laughable at best! Geez!

And if you know patents and how they work, then it is not all that simple as you and the previous poster (quoted) state! If someone violates a patent, then it is usually because they are guilty!

And if you think that Apple is the only one doing the suits, then take a look at this:

As for Al Capone comment, nevermind, you missed the point....

So, only fanboys are allowed to comment??

See comments above in bold.

Perhaps by drawing a weak minded judge who is susceptible to seemingly convincing, yet utterly baseless claims. Corruption and pandering are other possible explanations, not that I'm making any individual specific claims. Just answering the general question with logical possibilities.
