I deleted it using titanium backup a long time ago when i first rooted my phone. Now im having data and signal problems and im not even getting signal at all. Help me please

You will have to flash a new froyo rom either harmonia or bumblebee to get it back. But first put it in airplane mode for a few minutes then back and see if that helps.

Are you sure? I have seen the apk posted here a couple times, it is possible to reinstall it with the apk.

The actual apk SelfServiceAssistant_1.0.25.apk from this thread. And from the same thread this post which I assume is the same as ##VIRGIN#.

On the other hand, you could just dial ##847446# and reach the activation menu that way

I'm not sure if they are running froyo it might be a possibility. Iho it is not possible at all.

The Activation App is needed just in case you have data problems, and uninstalling the wrong app from the system partition can cause the ##847446# program menu to disappear. Before making any changes do a Nandroid backup first, do not try Titanium Backup to backup anything in the system partition, cause in most case it will fail.

When I first get my phone the system partition had 116 apps, I Flashed the Bumblebee ROM 3 days ago and started out with 72 apps. I have moved some apps in to the system partition, and moved the updates to the system as will. You can move apps to and from the system with any File Explorer App as longing as it has Root Access and the System Partition is set to writable.

I personally do not use ROM Manger or Titanium Backup, before I make changes I do a Nandroid Backup. Plus the Recovery that ROM Manger flashes is crap, nothing but Recovery loops.

Best way to not have the bloatware and is to Flash a New Recovery (Do not use ROM Mangers ClockworkMod Recovery, it is really bug and most likely will not flash the new ROM currectly) and do a Nondroid backup, then flash a new ROM like Bumblebee.

The Harmonia ROM and the HarmoniousBumblebee are the only two Froyo ROMs that can be flashed by both the Novatek screen Op "V's" and the Hitachi screen "V's" and both have the activate app.

The Bumblebee ROM will cause a Black screen with the Hitachi screen "V's" unless the Xionia kernel is flashed over it.

Whenever a device is rooted it is always recommended to install a custom recovery. The only two that are compatible for both screen versions is the Xionia v1.2518.6 for the Froyo based ROM's and the VM670NH recovery which will work best for all CM-7 IHO gingerbread ROM's.

It is always recommended to go to the backup option in the recovery and backup the currently installed ROM (this is called a nandroid backup) before flashing(installing) a custom ROM. It's best to do so after Rooting as you could delete something vital to the system function while having r/w permissions.

Use Titanium Backup or Fast Uninstall&Installer to backup all downloaded apps.
Never install an app that has been backed up when that very same app has been pre-installed with the ROM. Never install backed up system data. Both these things will cause the ROM to become corrupt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the black screen is due to the Recovery not the ROM it's self. I know that the Recovery that is listed for the ROM is out dated.

I have the older screen, and the Recovery that I use is RA-OptV-3.06 and I like it, no Recovery Loops and a nicer color making it easier to see. Do you know if that recovery works with the Hitachi screen?

The Black screen will also appear because the kernel not being compatible with the screen drivers. This is the case with all IHO ROM's developed before October and all Froyo ROM's but the Harmonia and HarmoniousBumblebee which have the Xionia kernel.

Never heard of the recovery your using, where did you find it? Link would be nice.
The only way to know is for someone to flash it that had the Hitachi screen.

That RA recovery is still somewhat experimental, and has had a few bad reports, though I'm not bad mouthing it, just giving a heads up to the unaware, ymmv.

I do look into enabling the activate.apk and assorted sub apks in IHO from time to time. The issue is not just with the necessary apks, but also with their associated (and required) libs. At some point, I'll do a build with just about every apk and lib from the stock OV system dump that isn't android specific that I can cram into our limited partition sizes. If I can get various stock apps we want to work (like activate), I'll then prune down till I find the relevant apk and lib combos.

I have had my OV for about a year now, and never had to use the activate apk since I purchased it, so it's not a huge priority for me tbh.

Actually:
Rodimus, Stock + Xionia and Aphrodite (except Pure) all have Xionia kernels and should work on all phones. These are the very first OV roms, we used Xionia kernels from the Optimus S because we didn't have the ability to make our own at the time. While these should be usable on all phones and have the activation app, I highly advise against it simply due to age. By the time you get the apps updated, you will have little room left.

Bumblebee has a custom kernel that only works on old. Most others use stock or similar kernels, and also only work on old.

Harmonia and Harmonious Bumblebee use a custom kernel that includes support for new screens as well as old. Both are quite up to date and include the activation app and all stock programing codes.


Oh, and don't bother trying the activate app on GB roms, it triggers a hidden menu, which those roms don't have.

As for using the app, I have had to a few times due to experiments with OS roms, apps and kernels, but also, if your data speeds have been bad for a while, sometimes it will give them a jump start. That only works for Froyo, GB roms don't usually have this issue. Older Android was known to lose provisioning.

Not to many people asking about those ROM's but will keep the info handy in case it happens.
I have tried the Rodimus ROM and I thought it was a very good ROM, just no support anymore.
I know one of the other two ROM's people use to add the picasticks kernel to so it could be overclocked in the 800MHz range. But that was with the Novatek screen.

Will the picasticks kernel work with the Hitachi screens?

The original Picasticks kernel only supports the old screen.

The rebuilt Picasticks Kernel by BigSuperSquid works with all screens, which is exactly what is in Harmonia and Harmonious Bumblebee. It should work on most any Froyo rom to make them work on the new screens.

The later Xionia kernels will also work on both phones. 014 is the better one according to some, if I remember right. Xionia carries a lot of bloat for the OV, Zefie built it to include a bunch of options that only work on the Optimus S.

I would recommend the new Picasticks if you want to use Froyo on a new phone. If you have an old one, either Picasticks or Bumblebee kernel, but there is really only one good Froyo rom left, and that is Harmonia. Even then, I recommend the IHO roms (including Harmonia 2) for all except those needing as much battery as they can get.

The system apps are in the own internal partition, the updates are not. The updates do go into the available internal memory.

Can I move my apps from data/apps to system/app to free up room?
