you will then install the drivers and kies. hook the phone up to the computer open kies and click update firmware the whole process takes about 10-15 minutes.

Yeah, I have been trying everything to update it... but for some reason, Samsung Kies mini keeps coming back with a "Unregistered Device." It is back on stock. I had recently flashed the 2.3.5 rom on it but figured I should try to get 2.3.6 (official). So I had used Odin to flash it back to 2.2.1. I tried to update it in 2.3.5 but kept getting Unregistered Device. So i used the steps provided and flashed back to 2.2.1 and still get the same error. I have done multiple Reinstalls of the drivers and Samsung Kies mini (Provided by Samsung.com) and still the same issue. I even did a factory reset and programmed it multiple times also. Any solutions? My last option is to take it to a cricket store with the good old "My phone just keeps on resetting (which it does do) and I don't know what's wrong with it." Trust me the odin/flash is best kept with myself and out of Cricket's knowledge. But like I said, it is a last resort. I figured I would see if anyone on these forums had a solution. Btw I have kept track with these posts for awhile. Any kind of help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.

samsung 910 now please

Well, I spoke to a samsung agent today who made it sounds as if the update not being released on metro is not a samsung issue, but a metropcs delay.
I pointed to the fact that both devices share "almost" the same hardware, and should have just about the same firmware, and he hinted that cricket just happened to release their stuff first, but it's basically up to metro to decide when (keyword here, not if) they want to release the update for their own devices.

I'd take what he said with a grain of salt, as that's probably mere speculation.
I'd like to see someone get a hold of someone over the phone about it. Like, an actual level 3 rep or something along those lines.

Could really do with the package Kies Mini is using... It's most likely a TAR, may be a zip.

EDIT: Unless we already have it - someone confirm the baseband and build versions please?
Got the phone back from samsung and it had the update. Basebadn and Build are the same as pictures above.
Baseband
S:R915.0.2K.EL06
Build
SCH-R915.EL06

To all the people that love rooting their phones and experimenting, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS NOR INSTALL, i've installed this firmware and my phone has lagged tremendously. My pictures take forever to load, i have no root access and the shit just seem dull to be completely honest. This firmware takes away all your rights as a developer to screw around with it for a couple of good looks, METRO USERS this is a curse nothing is good about this firmware in my opinion. If you love the way your phone is now, do not screw around with this firmware nothing good comes out of it....

Just stating facts.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have the same problem. I found out that odin back to stock does not exactly put you back to stock. the unregistered device is not the divice it is rooted software. I called samsung to find this out. They told me that it might be possible to send it to them for a refresh, but sometimes that does not work once phone has been rooted. If someone can get the correct files so I can odin my phone to the new legit gingerbread, I would greatly appreciate it. I cant go 15 days without my phone to send it in for refresh. I also have an issue with my phone vibrating and resetting all the time when I odin back to stock. I have done the same process before without any issues, so I am not sure why it is happening
