Yeah the only other 4g phone I had was the thunderbolt and the nexus has better signal than the thunderbolt and also my fascinate did.

Cool a progressively better experience is exactly what one can hope for in a new phone

It's in the low -80s at home. I brought the phone to work for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised that it was a steady -61 4 bars. Maybe there isn't a problem with the radios after all. Running on stock 4.02.

I had to switch back to the Bionic from the GN due to poor signal quality. Garbled/lost calls and over all poor reception. I live in an area where 4G hasn't made it yet so we are talking connectivity to 3G towers. This is my first attempt at leaving the Motorola ranch of devices and have to say I was disappointed. I really, really REALLY like the look and feel of the GN.

Anandtech's complete review is up. Didn't read it closely yet but I didn't see anything about signal issues other than quantized 3G readings. I do remember him finding a GPS problem on the original Galaxy S. Ringer phone perhaps?

I guess majority of Gnex users don't have much trouble with signal. It seems to affect small number of samples randomly in certain areas and also some folks are just fooled by low signal bars.

I think the CMC221 4G radio and ICS is just a little unfortunate combination in Nexus. Samsung actually used qualcomm radio chip like Rezound in their other LTE phones (SGSII LTE, G Note). But Google chose OMAP4 as reference platform for ICS, so they probably had to use improved version of Charge 4G radio for Nexus. It seems to me they didn't have enough time to polish the 4G radio software in ICS yet. Even if Nexus was manufactured by Moto or HTC, I think we would have seen similar issues with 4G. So this will be addressed soon. Nexus is excellent android phone in almost every other way.

I love Anandtech to death, is my go to spot for info.

Where I work n live...I'm lucky to see 10Mbps down. I average 5-6 mbps. I hate to compare it to this...but like with the iPhone 4 antenna issue...reception issues wont be noticed unless you are in a bad reception area.

I work near a major college, in between 2 malls. I live 10 - 15 minutes away from my job driving. If everyone in my area or visited my area had a G Nex or Rezound....I'm also willing to bet alot of them would have similar experiences I had with both phones.

In my travels I had never hit 30Mbps with the G Nex. The max was 25ish.

Just based on phone and data reception with my RAZR when I had the G Nex and with the Rezound I have now....I'm also willing to bet it would be a lil different in bad reception areas if the Nexus was made by Motorola.

I have a Rezound now. And after today...phone reception is on par with the G Nex ..which isnt too good for my area. Rezound data reception is very nice tho for my area.

Either that or I got a bad Rezound and G Nex for phone reception...and a good working RAZR for phone reception.

I took my phone across the country on a road trip. Had data 95% or more of the trip. Compared to my OG Droid, in everyday use, my voice/data/wifi signals are at least as good on the GN, if not better.

I'm having issues. -86 but not getting calls or texts sporadically.

Tried sim replacement Seemed to work for a few days then probs started again.

I guess I will get a dreaded refurb replacement. The fun begins.

I maintain a solid -120DBM at work all day on 3G. I stream music for almost 8 hours everyday, receive email, text and an occasional call with no issues. 4G at home with no issues. Wifi also seems to perform much better on this phone as well.

Yea -120 is not exactly "solid" lol. I usually get around -80 or so around home with an average of 20mb download, best I've seen was 26.

I realize that. My point was that I get a horrible signal at work based on the numbers but never loose a signal like I did with older phones. I stream music almost all day and it works fine.
