Root Boot up sound?

I've tried everything to get rid of the "virgin mobile" sound on booting up, but can't seem to find the right file. I've found every .ogg or .mp3 that I thought could be it, as well as the main bootanimation.zip file, renamed them with .bak, but that VM sound still happens... anybody else rooted that has figured out where this file is?

This is the top things on my list of annoyances too!
Love to hear what needs to be tweaked to silence this :)
Anyone tried one of the apps they used to silence the startup sound on the OV? I never bothered trying them on my OV as I rarely rebooted it, but oddly on the OV I don't recall it doing the shutdown sound like the MT does, just the boot annoyance...

[EDIT]
Here I went and dug some up...

Actually there are a few other options to try in that thread as well... might try later IF I have some spare time...

Got mine shut off. Everything is located in /hidden/data/

I changed my bootanimation.zip there, and renamed the VMU_Power_Up.mp3 to VMU_Power_Up.mp3.old until i find something that goes well with my animation.

The shutdown animation is there as well.

To change the shutdown sound, got to go to /system/media/audio/ui/
and do what you wish with VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3.

Same here. Everyone keeps pointing us towards files I've already tried and none of them work. There are at least 3 locations of that boot up sound file and I've went as far as deleting them completely and it still f'n sounds!!

I've managed to change the boot animation but still hearing that stoopid virgin mobile sound file.

Some one has to have an answer!!

If your using root explorer to change the boot sound you need to change 2 things: using root explorer go to hidden>data>CDA>content>startup sound you would see vmu_power_up.mp3 replace that with a different bootsound. Now go to hidden>data>power-on sound and replace the vmu_power_up.mp3 make sure you replace both or it wont work. I found this tutorial in YOU tube here is the link Motorola triumph sounds / animations - YouTube. THis guys also has a tutorial how to change the splash screen. Hope this helps

well if i was still on stock i could help cuz i remember doing same thing as u and i used i think file explorer or file manager, i cant recall which but the advice ur getting is the right one cuz i changed/deleted my boot up sound cuz i too could not stand it. Make sure u give root explorer root permissions and if i recall u have to enable it to show hidden files?

Also while on subject of sounds on the MT, i currently use custom sounds for alot of stuff, boot up, certain actions on phone ect ect. Is there a way to activate the shutdown sound/change it and boot animation while on CM7? i enabled boot up sound and all but dont know how to do it for the shutdown process.

As Asadullah said, it's in system/sounds/Poweron/PowerOn.mp3. I think you're probably having trouble because you're in system/media/audio/ui. I changed mine to Mario bros boot animation and cropped a bit of the music from the game for the power on sound on my Optimus Slider.

This is completely false for the triumph. The shutdown sound is located in /system/media/sounds/ui/VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3

The power on sound is in /hidden/data/power-on sound/VMU_Power_Up.mp3

Different phones haves sounds in different places. Removing that shutdown file has caused me problems in the past by not allowing it to shutdown properly so I took a silent mp3 and copied it over the virgin mobile one!
