yup, now i just need to figure out how to reinstall the verizon data counter widget

You can pull the apks from the system apps zip and use the empty cwm file (both in the OP) to flash them. Look for the apks names that start with vzw - you need two of them I think, but you could always flash all 3 (I think there's three anyway).

you also need the MyVerizon.apk file installed in order for it to work properly

here are the apks i installed from adb to get the data widget working

MyVerizon.apk
vzwapnpermission.apk
VZWService.apk
VzwSigSSOEngine.apk

i have also attached a zip archive with them in it, hopefully that will just work from CWM for anyone else who wants(or maybe needs??) this widget to be working.

I'm happy to see that someone put some work into this device. As of yet I am sticking with the deodexed/zipaligned stock I am running but will probably try this in the very near future. I am just not where I want to be with the whole Droid system with regards to my understanding of it to be a guinny pig. But soon. :)

I would like to say that I was very happy to see the support given on the forum for the guy who had the issues. So often we see someone post a new this or new that and disappear when someone starts asking questions or needing help. So... kudos to you my man!

I'm new to the whole Android, Smartphone stuff and keep hearing about Rooting the phones to get more/better usage from them. But I guess I'm a little skittish on rooting my phone right now, having it for 2 months.

What happens if I totally bork the system while trying to root it? Is there a way to get it back to factory defaults or something similar?

Thnx.

I can try to get some together, but it'll be a bit. That being said, I didn't change the look at all. I'm not a themer unfortunately.

I actually ended up rooting and installing it. I like it a lot. I only have two complaints, and I would like to ask if it would be possible to implement a couple of features.

1. Could you enable the ability to use the lock screen and a password in unison. Maybe with the feature to have the password enabled only after a certain amount of time, and when the phone boots up.

2. Also, the YouTube app isn't installed by default, but that's easily fixed, and you can still use YouTube in the browser.

I did have one problem, the default browser will not connect to the internet while using wifi. Any other app on the phone can connect to the internet over wifi, but I had to download an alternative browser to use while on wifi. Anyone else experiencing this problem.

EDIT: So, I've found a glitch. I had used my device to listen to music earlier today, as I normally do. Tonight, while browsing the web, I decided to bring up my music player. While scrolling, the music becomes choppy, and cuts out. Then, I noticed it wasn't just doing it while I was in the web browser, it was also happening when I scrolled through pretty much anything, even the songs in the music player itself. This is a problem for me, I browse the web A LOT while I listen to music. Has anyone else had this problem?

On a lighter note, I redownloaded one of my favorite games to attempt to play it. I expected the worst, because of the problem with the music player. But this ROM make games preform WAY better than stock. All graphics were smooth, as well as the audio from the game.
