Awesome!! you guys have clockwork mod recovery, that means like you guys shoulda had ics yesterday right?

wrong

things take time, one of the biggest time killers is getting clockworkmod sent back to koush to be stamps with a seal of approval. until that happens doing ANYTHING besides reboot to recovery in rom manager (an app on the market) can and WILL brick you

TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN

no, odin wont save you... your phone will not turn on end of story

no really. youve heard the warning get a brick and report in this thread so that everyone will know its true and not to do it :)

This post is totally true :) I did the most stupid shit a person can do in hope i could flash a random cwm before we had an official one, I tried to reboot my phone and that was my admire's last breath. I got my replacement, rooted with cwm, and admiral beast! For everybody's good will, just dont download rom manager until we have the ok to.

Little thread bump for you guys.

From what I understand from Guide karandpr, the reason for these brickings lies here:

Nexus uses standard MTD/yaffs/ext4 layout .Samsung uses BML/rfs layout .

Nexus has the recovery partition on 8.

Samsung usually has arm-boot on 8 and recovery on 10.

You flash recovery on armboot and you get a brick since it is a bootloader file

So, ROM Manager is apparently not compatible on all devices and/or does not check (or cannot or does not know how to check) for the proper recovery partition for this particular device (and others, from what I'm reading) and will overwrite the boot partitions with CWM (not cool).

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Also, a quick reminder that we will not be discussing means and methods for defrauding your carriers or retailers by turning-in / reporting a phone that you yourself rooted and bricked, albeit unknowingly, in order to obtain a new device.

Once you've rooted, you assumed the responsibility yourself and other's, especially carriers and retailers, should not be held responsible nor bear the cost for your actions.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

indeed, thats why its so frustrating due to devices like teh admire/prevail/replenish/vitality/precedant are all susceptible to these bricks, when asked about it and told of a way to fix it koush merely brushed it off and said "i dont like the way you did it, come up with another way"

granted its not the first time a bricking incident has gone on ignored... his touch based recovery for teh epic 4g touch on sprint is known to cause bricks and yet it still sits there available for people to buy it....

long story short guys, use something like goo manager :p

OMG, ROM Manager doesnt brick jack shyt, PEOPLE DO!!! ;)

But point is if your device doesnt have an official support CWM, the no you have no real need for RM except to ease the process of rebooting to cwm. Which also can be done with qucikboot, rom toolbox, you pc via adb reboot recovery, and of course the button combo. ;)

Oh and if your lucky via a power menu mod ;)
