Dock SD slot question..

This is to the people who have the Prime + keyboard dock if you don't mind?

I just wonder what people use the SD slot for on the keyboard dock?

Is it viable for the SD slot on the Dock to be used as Storage for Media (Movies/Photos/Music etc?) so you can just Dock it for when you need them?

And question 3..does the card stick out or sit flush?

Cheers guys..:)

It is definitely viable to use the dock SD slot as storage for media. The SD card in the dock sticks out just as far as the microSD slot- meaning very little, but enough that it can be ejected by accident, although it is likely much easier to notice given the size difference between an SD card and a microSD card. I have just resigned myself to keep the microSD card in my Case Logic sleeve, and insert it when I want to watch movies. Otherwise, my entire picture and music collection easily fit on the Transformer Prime itself. YMMV.

bmacgyver - what case logic sleeve are you using? are you just putting the tablet in it or the talbet with docking station?

I'm using the Case Logic 7-10 inch netbook sleeve and use it with the TP docked. It is the perfect size, and it has a small zippered compartment that I can store the charger (if desired), earphones, screen cleaner, and microSD and/or SD cards. I also really feel like everything is well protected whether I'm bringing just the TP/dock, or placing it in a bag/backpack/suitcase etc.

i was thinking that might be the one. i like the side pocket on it. i hadn't seen a sleeve i liked, but i like this. just like you said - charger, earphones and sd cards in pocket. now i just got to find one in stock.

I've found that leaving an SD card in the slot in the dock then undocking/docking the tablet will wipe the card!

Perhaps this is unique to my device or the card I'm using (16GB Sandisk) but it's happened twice now so is a repeatable problem.

So, be sure to unmount the SD card before undocking/docking.

i haven't had this issue yet. the microsd i keep in the tablet has movies and the microsd in the sd adapter i keep in the dock has work stuff and i've had it this way for two weeks and no issues/loss of data.

Hmmm, thanks. My SD card is formatted with NTFS so that may be a cause, but at least it's good to know it's not a(nother) design flaw.
