Help Help with Infuse HDMI out-not working!

I cannot get my HDMI out to work. The mhl adapter is connected between the phone and the HDMI to my tv, and it is also plugged into the wall charger. When I plug it in it asks what USB I want to use and I say media player, but no matter what I do I cannot get my tv to recognize anything, It just says no signal. I have tried on several tv's with three different HDMI cords. My tv is a VIZIO that is less than a year old. I went back to the store and replaced the MHL adapter but it didn't change a thing. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I am missing? Any settings that need to be changed? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I wish I could help, but I'm having the same problem. I'm plugged into the tv and the charger, but the tv says it can't see a signal.

What's strange is the fact that the tv says (Sony, not sure about the model, but it's about 18-24 months old) there's no signal, yet it can sense that an hdmi cable is attached to the port.

In any case I would love some help as well.

Would rooting my phone have anything to do with it?

UPDATE: I realized that I was not using the supplied wall plug and usb/micro-usb cord. I was using the one from my Kindle, I assumed it was all the same, obviously not. In any case, now the tv will show everything BUT the movie from the Media Hub. It just shows a display that says "TV-out not supported while application running. Phone display only". I'm not sure what that means but I'm guessing it means you can't use the media hub to watch shows on your tv. That's kind of a bummer.

However, what is cool is the fact that I was able to see everything else, including my slingbox app. The qualtiy wasn't anything to write home about, but it wasn't too bad.

I couldn't get the audio to play, but that may be more a function of my surrond sound/AV system that we had installed.

I had the same issue. Thought I did everything right, then I powered the phone off then back on and it started working.

On the downside the picture quality is marginal at best.
Positive, It's nice the audio will play from the TV.

The biggest drawback is the media hub, pay $9.99-$17.99 for a movie and you cannot play it back on your TV? Might as well go buy (or rent) the Blue Ray and rip it onto your comptuer and transfer it to your phone, the ripped copies will play through the normal video player.

Hey thanks! I plugged it in and it still wasn't working but I restarted my phone while it was plugged in and then it showed up finally! It sucks that MediaHub doesn't work but I found that you can put your own digital copies of movies on your microSD card and you can watch them on your tv, so that is pretty cool. THANKS!

Reboot while plugged in worked for me too.

EDIT: Spoke too soon. It comes up with the home screen, and then as soon as I touch it, it fritzes out and goes back to no-signal. I don't know if this is due to a bad cable or bad software or something else. I may have Best Buy check it out in the store.

Ok, so I think this issue has more to do with the TV than the phone. I connected the same setup to my 22inch Dynex LCD downstairs and it worked perfectly without having to reboot the phone, and was rock solid.

It's only when connected to my 37" LG LCD upstairs that it requires a reboot to work at all, and then flakes out after a short time.

I just experienced the "TV-out not supported" message while trying to play a movie from Media Hub. I went to Samsung support and the agent said it was because the videos are copyrighted and cannot be sent out from the phone. That's their answer. No buggy software, no defects, it's just a "feature."

This may be a issue with the handshake that HDMI was suppose to have for video sources - Some TVs have issues with it as well as receivers.

I had the same issue. I just unplugged and rebooted. The media hub thing sucks too. I am wondering if the movies from android market will stream from my phone to tv?? Anyone tried it???

I would try it on a different TV to see if it works. Mine works great on a Dynex, hardly at all on an LG.

In my time in the A/V business, Sony seemed to have a habit of always implementing their protocols in ways that were slightly different. I always had a problem with their firewire connections back in the day, but they were Sony... so they expected people to adapt to them. And their expensive DVD players wouldn't play most burned disks while cheap $75 Walmart players would.

As I was reading a few post from this topic I noticed that people were saying that the power cable was the problem when the HDMI didn't work on the phone, and they were right. The moment I switched the power cord from the wall plug, I was able to get it on my TV. I was able to make it work with the Motorola power cable, which is the plug with the USB cable.

Media Hub in fact did not work, but Netflix and Vevo all work, so if you have a Netflix account it will be great to watch something in your room if you don't have a bluray player or the Netflix box..

The quality is not the same as if it came directly from the TV, so I would say it is about a 7/10. The good thing is, the audio comes from the TV.. so that you can control without a problem.
