I wish we knew when :( we were told we would receive android 4.0 from sprint and HTC a few months back shortly after the October release of ice cream but as far as iv heard no official word of when? Not even a possible geuss date yet :( and there is so many differences like astronomical differences my friend to many to list lol.. look for another android ics EVO 3d post there is a few posts from users that describe quite a bit of every detail of ics!

I doubt that the Evo 3D will get vanilla. I expect that low end and mid-range HTC phones will have vanilla to keep updating them simpler. I doubt HTC is ready to abandon Sense just yet. Especially seeing how the Sensation is getting ICS Sense.

I hope you are wrong but you are probably right. Oh well I guess we'll see.

you get ice cream with icw, where as gingerbread is just a cookie. I also like the texture of the cookie more so after its been it soaked with ice cream (even if just on one side). Its really tasty.

That was Friggin Hillarious man.... :D

I would love to get the option for sense or not.
I seems that everyone is pretty much split 50/50 on the LOVE / HATE of Sense.

Personally can't stand it....

I hate Sense 3.0 also, but have you played with 3.5 or 3.6 yet? I was extremely surprised at how fluid and lagfree the UI was. I suppose it was faster because of ICS' HW acceleration, but either way they made some nice changes to the UI that could at least make it bearable to use.

I hope the ics atleast gives us sense 3.5 preferably 4.0 but I won't push the limit but some sort of sense update would be greatly appreciated !!!!

I would prefer a sense less update. Stock vanilla aosp. I will flash a custom aosp rom as soon as a reliable one is available. Now if sense 4.0 wows me i may reconsider.

I am hoping with Ice Cream Sandwich we get Sense 4.0
I love how the phone got snappier with HTC's latest maintenance update, I just want a slightly refreshed feeling with it. I especially want the visual simplifications and landscape home screens from 4.0. I'm hoping we can lock the phone in landscape mode and have it stay that way. I want to unlock my phone straight into landscape without wait, it would be nice to accomplish without a 3rd party application.

It would also be nice if there was a side window left open that allows us to run Vanilla android if we want to. (not likely, but a guy can dream) ;)

I doubt they'll update our Sense any more than they have to to make it fit with ICS. The Evo 4G went from 2.1 to 2.2 and to 2.3 without any change to Sense, though this is bigger change so hopefully they have to change a few things.

The Evo was memory limited. The Evo Shift didn't have that problem, so it's gotten Sense updates.

With our hardware matching the latest advanced HTC models, it would make sense for them to keep variations to a minimum and update us along whatever their mainline plan may be, in my opinion.
