HTC Battery Widget will not launch

It is a widget. You have to add it like a widget. Go to the home page you want to add it to and hit the plus sign. Go to HTC widgets and select it.

I made the mistake of leaving when I bought the phone and having the sales person set it up for me. I have no idea where HTC widgets is. I download the HTC battery thingy. I install it. I go to open it and it doesn't open.
I guess I am Droid challenged here-sorry for the idiot questions.

Do step by step what OTD said to do starting at 'Go to the home page'. You don't actually have to KNOW where the HTC widgets are, if you follow her steps you'll see where they are. Once you're there select 'Battery' - and magic will happen. You just have to make sure you have an empty spot on the screen where you want the widget to go.

I have been trying to find out how to get rid of these icons (widgets I guess they are called) on my front page. I have an amazon mp3 that is a large file but can not find a delete button. Maybe that's my problem is the front page is loaded with crap I will never use.

Any help is well appreciated it.

If using HTC Sense:Long press the icon........when it displays a green box around it, move it to the "remove" button at the bottom of the screen.

If you are using the other home screen do the same thing except move it to the trash can.

I'd say it's a sure bet that you're using HTC Sense, so SirSlayer's instructions of dragging it down to the 'remove' button will work.
Also, I'd suggest that you go to the Tips and Tricks sticky at the top of the forum. In the first message of that sticky is a link to the full Eris manual. I think you could do yourself a favor by getting and reading that. It'll make you life much easier, and probably help you to enjoy your phone more.

Long pressed the icon for amazon mp3 and alas the green box came up and it let me drag the icon to remove at bottom of screen. I click the arrow that brings up all programs and the icon is still there? I even rebooted it is still there. I deleted it 2 more times it is still there-ARG

What you did just removes the icon from your home screen, it does not actually delete the program from the phone. (much like right-clicking and deleting an icon off your computer desktop). It's not possible to actually delete any of the programs that came preinstalled on the phone. You can take them off the home page, but they will always show up in the All Programs area.
