I have a related question about battery life, signal, and the battery history details. The battery life is horrific on my current Nexus, with device shutting off after 7 hours with absolutely no activity by me, connected to WIFI (tested this yesterday, with factory reset, and a full charge, to be sure that no 3rd party apps are at fault).
When away from home, I have also had an issue where the phone will not stay connected to 4g or 3g for more than a few minutes at a time. Today, when looking at my battery history details, I notice that the mobile network signal bar is yellow, with small intervals of red. To contrast, the first Nexus that I returned (because of a screen issue) didn't have this problem, and would last 20+ hours with moderate activity. I believe there is a significant defect with this particular nexus, and contacted VZW to send me a replacement for this device (which should arrive in a couple of days).
A theory I have is that the radio in my current Nexus is having trouble staying connected, and that it keeps trying to connect, which is draining the battery (although the battery drains shockingly fast even when connected to WIFI). Does anyone know what the yellow and red mean (especially since everyone else's screenshots in this thread show that bar as mostly green)?
