Ok here's the deal I've been trying to decide which ROM to flash for like the last week. I'm having such a hard time deciding cause there appears to be quite a few really good choices. Here are the features I use all the time or that I would like included in a custom ROM...

1. Facebook sync
2. Functioning camera/video (I tried one ROM and the camera had a yellowish tint and the video camera force closed all the time)
3. Ability to add phone and messaging to the lock screen
4. No battery percentage in the status bar (not a deal breaker but it does annoy me)
5. T9 dialer

Any thoughts out opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Rich

Howdy Rich

There are several that fit the bill with 1-5 you listed. Which dot-oh-03 ROM is right for you can only be answered by you trying them to see for yourself.

Off top of my head that fit your bill are (in no particular order): team kangs aokp, cna, Liquid, Gummy, and Apex

edit: a couple more Petes Bugless Beast and Redemption, but you'd have to add some mods to get the lockscreen sms, and T9 dialer iirc

Just do some research, read through the forums, read all the features, and take the plunge. Good luck!

I have been enjoying CNA this weekend and today. Want to try a different kernel to maybe get better battery life. I love Redemption however, but as jbdan stated you will need some mods to get what you're looking for.

Try em all imho, its the only way to fly!

Ive tested most ROM's, still need to give Pete's a shot. All phones/chips are different so YMMV.

Good luck, and cheers!

There are probably a couple of different ROM's that will fit that bill but I know Apex will. I have been running it from its start and it is flawless...I cannot find a single fault, and it's very fast and "snappy".

I'm trying APEX right now.

Just out of curiosity and because I can't remember because it's been so long since I've been able to play around with ROM's how do I boot into ClockWork Recovery if I get stuck in a boot loop. I had the DROID X prior to this and I didn't mess around to much cause the damn thing was so temperamental...

Pull battery then re-insert. Press and hold down both volume up and down then press and hold power button all together. It will vibrate once registered

Another + for Apex. It is really early to tell, but many of these developers have been around awhile. Kejar, Gummy, Fab, Roman-- all awesome and all give credit to one another. You will find many similarities in these and when a feature is really awesome it often ends up in all of their ROMs. Most of the developers are happy to share as long as they get credit.

As for "the best", that's going to be a matter of opinion. I am going with Apex because it was rock solid on my Droid X and I liked the combination of stability and good battery with some of the most desired features.

I'm just biding my time until CM9 comes out for the GNex and some of the stupid crap 4.0.2 was doing was making me mad...

Loving it! Can unlink notifications and ringers, and new battery icons are great!

What do you mean by unlink notifications and ringers?

You can have different volumes for each, instead of the volumes being linked together. I like my ringer on max (because I rarely get calls, but when I do, they're generally important) and my notifications on about half (because they go off all the time). Ics doesn't let you change them independently, but milestone 3 AOKP has it built in.
