Removing the NFL Live and Nascar apps?

I can understand why the phones are sent out with the apps pre-installed, but not why you can't *UN*install them. I actually use both, but guess what, football season is over, I'd love to remove the NFL Mobile app to free up space until next season starts. The NASCAR will *NEVER* be removed. Yes, I am *THAT* redneck. :)

Nascar... its just a clever way of saying "Traffic" is a sport.

I too wish I could get rid of that pointless app without rooting. Lame Sprint LAME!

You wouldn't kill for it if you knew how much battery it eats.
@johnny i just use an app called startup auditor. It costs 99 cents but in all honesty it's worth it. you can set up two lists of apps: the ones you don't want to open on power up, and the ones you want startup auditor to keep closed when they try to start themselves at any time. it's the best solution i could come up with because i won't root either.

Is this safe for the memory management of the Android OS?

doesnt it only use battery when you watch it?

I would be very interested in an answer to this guy's question too!
It seems that if the apps start up with the phone, then they are using some of the potential battery life.
From what I've read here, it seems that rooting is the only solution for removing the baked in apps, NASCAR in particular...?
