Any updates (from reliable sources) on ICS?

Has anyone gotten any updates (from a reliable source, e.g., Acer) on when
ICS will come out for the A500? Are we still expecting it by the end of this
month (only a few days left....)?

as an FYI - thors ICS is pretty sweet - no camera though...all else works.

I can't see why the release would be as late as April because android 5 would be old by then. Let alone android 4.

Personally can't see why we can't just download android from Google, DD it to a USB and install it ourselves like with Linux.

Meh, all the waiting...

Ics is great on my phone, just feel my tablet is out of date until it catches up the release cycle.

Chill, we'll get to taste the ICS goodness in our time. Just think of all the people buying unsupported Chinese tablets in the US that are still running GB or (gasp) FROYO!

I agree, I prefer a well tested and stable ics. They get complains for waiting so long, but they would also get complains if it is an unstable os. Now we can use our iconias without lag and to many force closes or freezes, and I still want this experience with ics.

Following the style of my actual point and taking the Linux distribution model as an example. I could download Android, try it on a USB, install it, try it, reinstall an old version if needed, have updates, .... Be free.

Besides, it takes a lot of time for Acer to add in all the crapware and such that vendors typically bundle into a new OS version release.

Acer is also known for using the closest to stock OS of all the Tablet manufacturers.
That it takes some time to adapt it to the hardware is all acceptable to me.

(Actually, all I found Googling it were articles discussing its possible name being Jelly bean and the challenges Google faces in its design. They dated from last Spring. I didn't find anything at all to suggest that it has even started being developed yet. )

tawan, despite Android being loosely Linux-based it would be VERY difficult to follow an exact Linux distribution model. Each manufacturer has to build the OS with its own "drivers" for the devices. One example of this is the ROM developers having different builds for different model phones because different phones have different hardware.
