Sorry for the delayed start of this thread...I was asked a little while ago to start a thread on this. Since I got the Mercury I have never been able to receive MMS messages; when I try to download them it sits in the downloading state until I move the screen, then the download button pops back up. I tried the *228 reprogram twice and then took it into the Cricket store. The girl tried a a couple more codes and then tried to send me a new message to download but I wasn't able to download that one either. She said that she didn't think it wasn't the phone or the account causing the issue and said it is most likely a network problem. She said to keep trying it every couple of days and if it doesn't work within a couple weeks she would warranty out the phone for me. I rooted the phone since then, but this is not the cause since it has been ongoing since out of the box. I am using Handcent messaging app, but have also tried with the default messaging app as well, neither works. At a loss on this one...and I would really like to not have to warranty the phone since I already had to do 2 days worth of customizing and downloading, don't want to have to redo it all. Any suggestions?

I had a minor issue today saying that there was something wrong with the way it was formatted?
It gave me the download box but it automatically did it and got the picture.
Could be the senders pictures/service?

One thing i noticed on this phone is that when i save any GIFs they will not play at all in the gallery.

If you want to use a different gallery app, tinypic will play gifs.

Still no fix for this. My person on the inside at cricket said it wasn't provisioned on my account but after setting it up it still didn't work. She submitted a trouble ticket on my account which was the only option left short of warranty replacing my phone. Also having issues with the market now, only displays about 20 apps where other phones show hundreds. Stumped....

I would go for the replacement since it doesn't seem like this is happening to anybody else. Sucks to have to set everything up again, but these things happen.

Well honestly I would rather just have pics sent to my email the whole time I have this phone than have to spend 2 to 3 days completely setting up a brand new one. Email is definitely the lesser of two evils...got the market fixed though, found out that changing my LCD density made 90% of the apps incompatible. LCD Density Modder Pro has a permanent market fix that downloads a modded version of the market to work with whatever density you choose, basically faking out the market to think you still have default density.

Does changing the density make a big difference in the way the screen looks? And how does that work, since you only have the same amount of pixels to work with?

I have this issue, but only when using Handcent. The default message app handles them just fine. It's really weird.

I've been using Handcent for a couple weeks, I notice it is a little slower at initiating MMS downloads but it always gets them after a short delay (usually 4-5 seconds), be sure auto download & auto retrieve are enabled in handcent options.

I like it better than the stock messaging app overall, One bug Ive noticed with the stock app is if someone sends you a text with an audio file attached the audio cut off short at the end, example if it said "Hey what are you doing" it would playback as "Hey what are you do.." this doesn't happen in Handcent.

I love handcent.... The options were checked. A message would come in, I would go to the thread, the message would say downloading... then I'd get an error stating that the message could not be downloaded. The download button would appear. I'd hit download... rinse and repeat.

However, I can go to the stock messaging app, and it would come down with no problem. Now, I can send mms *from* handcent, it's just the receiving.

I recently upgraded to this phone from ascend and am having the same problem with handcent when it comes to downloading pics. Really sucks to have to go back and forth bewteen stock and handcent when I want to download pics. Has anyone found a fix yet?

Odd, Would the launcher have any effect on it? I'm using Go Launcher EX and haven't had any issues w/ Handcent receiving pics (I receive them daily).

I still have not found a fix for it yet. So until I can I will just continue to switch between stock and handcent I guess.

We can compare some settings and see if that helps? from the main handcent screen (Showing all contacts) goto Settings.

Handcent Services: I haven't changed or used anything here, it's all on default (Never created a login).

Application Settings: Default Messaging Application is set to Disable.

Custom Style: don't think there's any relevant options here that would help your issue.

Notification Settings: Not relevant again but I unchecked Popup, I didn't like how it would make the screen come on with every text, the notification sound & front led flashing is good enough for me.

Send Message settings: All on default here.

Receive Message Settings: Under SMS retrieve - Delivery Reports is unchecked, Handcent delivery report is checked, under MMS retrieval settings Delivery Reports is unchecked, Read Reports is unchecked, Auto Retrieve is checked, Roaming auto retrieve unchecked. under Other retrieval Self-Check is checked and below that Auto Download is checked.

The last 3 settings are all at defaults (Security & privacy / social network settings / speech).

The only difference between our settings was Application Settings:Default Messaging Application.. Mine was set to ALL SMS and MMS. I set it to disable. Will have someone send me a pic and report back if that fixed it.

Can you also let me know what your stock messanger settings are at? I tinkered with them some while trying to trouble shoot.

Thanks you got your help :)
