Ok so most of you coming from the iPhone know about the group MMS , when a group text is sent out it's sent as an MMS and when people reply it stays in the same thread , almost like a chat room .

I have been using VZW Messaging for the past month or so on my Rezound and Thunderbolt and it worked great for it. But unfortunatly it doesn't work on the Galaxy Nexus yet and the native app doesn't work the same when with Group MMS .

Is there another app that works the same way as VZW Messaging . I've tried Handcent and Go in the past and neither did this. That messaging app was by far my favorite I've used .

It's kind of a drag that a Verizon app wasn't modified to work on Verizons flagship phone (ohh wait I guess that's the Razr lol) anyway I remember before using VZW Messaging I used Handcent and when someone sent an MMS Group Text if I replied right away with a "." in the subject line it would auto convert it to an MMS text and that worked . But kind of a pain in the ass... I loved how VZW Messaging just did it auto I'm shocked no other app out there does the same thing

Well it looks like the VZW Messaging app was updated yesterday . It says the update was to fix bugs with Rezound and Razr but it still says the Galaxy Nexus isn't support but I thought what the heck I'll give it a try.

Sent and received a few text between my phone and a sprint evo without any problems I'm going to test it out today and I'll report back .. The fact that it's actually working is very positive as when I first downloaded it on Day one with my Nexus it didn't work at all it would send but not receive text

I know there wasn't much interest in this but for the ones that were interested VZW Messaging is working perfectly finally got around to testing group mms and it worked fine

My only gripe with the program is that you can set up you threads to have a black background but the main list of threads can only be white . Kind of a bummer considering blacks look so great on this screen and they save battery life

Very interested in this as well. I have the GN, at&t version. Most of my friends and families use the iPhone, and they use group MMS all the time. Like you, I have to do the work around of adding a subject '.' to convert my text to MMS. It IS a pain in the ass, and will sometimes get you in trouble lol. Like when one of them actually started another group MMS, leaving some friends out that were included on another group MMS, you have no way of knowing unless you hold down for details on the message everytime, and see the phone numbers included in it. And why can't it show the names (if they are in your contacts) instead of their phone numbers? Little things like this surely annoys me.

Also, I was playing around with my sister's BB torch and found out that they support group mms as well. This is made possible because BB has an option to "Reply to All" on their messaging app, so with this checked, your reply will be automatically converted to MMS and will be sent to all the numbers included in the group chat. All the replies (including yours) are grouped in one chat or thread, exactly like the iPhone, and not by individual contact or number like our android. Can't believe android left out that option to reply to all, most dumb phones have this for AGES!

Another frustration of mine in android's messaging app is not getting all the MMS messages! It gives me two error messages, one, it will create a thread called Hidden Sender Address, two, message download unsuccessful. This problem has been going on for years and unfortunately it hasn't been fixed yet. Here's the thread to give you more info, if you have this problem please star it.

Unfortunately I'm with AT&T, when I try to download Verizon messenger it was grayed out. One user suggested downloading at&t messenger as it supports group mms as well, but it kept crashing on my GN, but that was a good thing, because when i installed it on my old N1, it actually cleared all my message on the stock app. I don't think i'd like that. I still want to use the stock app for SMS.... btw, have you had that problem with not receiving all your mms messages?

Ohh my bad I was thinking Verizon on the phone anyways I had trouble when I first bought my Nexus VZW Messenger wasn't letting me receive messages at all SMS or MMS ... But they did an update about a week later and even though it said it still wasn't compatible with the Nexus I gave it a go and had no problems . I still use my stock messaging app but I have VZW installed with notification off , I only use for group texting as it's kind of a clumsy messaging app

I might just have to do that, the one reason I never liked using the VZW messaging app was because it was plain ugly

I have posted an issue on Google's code website requesting a group messaging feature on Android. To sum it up, I am requesting that Google add a Group MMS and "Reply to All" feature in AOSP so that all group messages will stay in the same thread. Some Android phones do have this feature put in by their manufacturers (I believe the Droid Bionic has this feature) but it is not in the original AOSP code. In order for this feature to be added to Android, the issue needs to be "Star"ed until it gains enough attention from the official Android OS team.
Step 1) Follow this link
2) Sign in to your Google account (top right corner)
3) Click on the small star next to Issue 24468, and it basically acts as an upvote.
If you do not want to receive email updates when people comment on this issue, you can click on Profile (top right corner), click on the settings tab, scroll down to the section labeled "Issue Tracker", and deselect "If I starred the issue" and then scroll to the bottom and click Save Preferences button.
With your help, this feature which is already native in iOS and BB, can finally make it to Android!

I assume you mean SMS, not MMS. Either way, I HATE the iPhones group messaging functionality. If my wife sends a pic of our kids to me, and her friends and family, for the next half hour or more I get all the "so cute" responses from her sisters and friends that have iPhones that seem totally out of context. It's like spam. Only iPhones do this. It's like when someone hits "Replay All" to a company wide e-mail at work, so annoying!

I mean MMS... When you send a SMS in this manor it gets converted to a MMS ... I like the function and enjoyed it greatly on my Tbolt and Rezound with VZW Messaging which is no longer available in the Market for the Nexus . It was nice to have almost a chat room going on about certain things . If you don't have group mms ability it's very annoying because your phone is constantly going off with separate text messages with a group mms it's all nicely organized in one thread so if you're planning something it's very easy
