  • Body and screen of an HTC Touch HD
  • Nvidia Tegra inside
  • then pretty much the same spec as the Hero (obvously including Sence)

If HTC made that then they could charge what they wanted for it cos I'm sure its the phone everyone's been waiting for, you'd get people paying off their remaining 20 months iphone 3GS contracts just to get one straight away.......surely no one could question it supreme awesomeness?!

seriously, without getting into crazy fantacy phones this must be the perfect handset??

I'd rather see it with the diamond 2/touch pro 2 body..

Do you recommend getting this HTC Hero?

Will be possible ti disable the HTC Rosie UI and run Android 1.5 on HTC Hero with the updates that may be released in the future?

I believe it to be possible. Right now, most builds coming with the Hero ROM are very easy to clear the defaults by Rosie. Rosie is just a home alternative like aHome and OpenHome.

The Rosie interface looks great though, I was thinking of buying an iPhone but now I want the Hero because of its awesome interface. It's kinda odd that Apple haven't tried coming up with a new alternative interface which looks nicer (not necessarily replacing the current one, just giving users the option) Considering Apple like to make all their stuff look prettyful.

Anyways, not sure whether to make the jump now and get the Hero when it comes out or wait and see what comes on offer in the future...

A Touch pro with android would be awesome, provided they make it thinner, and remove the d-pad and that rubbish with smaller buttons and a trackball so that the screen can be bigger (3.2 in, instead of the current 2.8). More like the Touch Pro 2.

I think you anwsered some of your question yourself ... Apple is not about giving users choice ... their's is the best-way for everyone so all the sheep must get in the same line ... and follow the sheppard ..

I agree with everything ... except the dpad vs trackball.

When you've got a scrollable touch screen, trackballs are redundant for fast screen movement ... and useless for fine detail movement. In that regard, a dpad compliments the touchscreen, giving you the fine detail widget-to-widget movement that a trackball lacks (due to being too sensitive/jerky).

I absolutely loathe the trackball on the G1, and if I could get a Touch Pro 2, I would love to have a dpad on the face. But, honestly, having the arrow keys on the keyboard, and no trackball anywhere, is probably sufficient.
