Facebook photo upload--sideways!!

No, I think it goes through your Facebook app to share it - you can always uninstall the FB app and see if you can still share using the Gallery, but I *thought* that it required the app....

It's like several news apps I have had - I could only share to twitter via twidroid if twidroid was installed - otherwise it would go through a web interface directly.

However, I may be wrong, in that it may be dong it directly (since you can set your FB accounts to sync contacts, it means the phone may be accessing it directly, and not through the app) - and if so, then I stand corrected, and you're right.

What's the app that's running if I am in Gallery and choose Share, and then choose share to Facebook (or share to gmail or share via email)? I would assume the app that's working there is Gallery.
The app is uses to share to fb is the fb app. It just hands the image off. Try logging out of the fb app and see if doesn't ask you to log back in when you try to share a photo from fb.

I have the same problem when I use the share to fb from the gallery. Have to go to full fb site to rotate and tag.

Its nice to blame stuff on the OS but in this case the OS is not to blame.

Actually, i believe it is the OS. whenever i try to share photos from my droid to anything, FB, MMS, etc, it always puts it into landscape. If i take photos in a vertical portrait position they show up turned 90 degrees to the left through messaging or facebook. So i dont think its the FB apps fault if it's happening to me in a stock app that came on the phone. My wife has a droid and when she receives the photo it shows up sideways but in her gallery it looks normal. somehow gallery knows the intended orientation but the other apps dont.

They have another way to upload pictures. If you go to the full FB website on a computer go

photos ->my uploads -> upload photos -> mobile photos.

Once you click on mobile photos a window pops up giving you a personal email address to send to saying

  • This is *your* personal email - don't share it with anyone.
  • The email subject will be used as the caption of your photo or video if your email contains photo or video.
It works pretty good. I tried it because I couldn't figure out a way to title the picture uploading it the other way.

I uploaded a photo to Facebook, and it uploaded sideways, no matter how I rotated the image in the Gallery. The app doesn't allow rotation. Any solution?

This has been an issue for a while, one that some of us thought would or could possibly be addressed in the 2.1 update. Personally I've never directly uploaded images using the Facebook Picture Feature, however if memory serves me correctly you should be able to take the picture in Landscape mode and have it appear correctly upon uploading.

I'm not sure if that actually works as I've not tried it. Any pictures I take with my Droid or my Digital Cam I typically will edit with Photoshop before I post them.

My problem is that the Moto Droid is recording my photos sideways and then uploading my photos via K9 email client sideways. So, I rotated the photo before the upload, and it still is sideways. Anyone have a thought? And, I do use the unique address to FB to upload as a K9 email client to my FB unique address; but, it always sends the photo rotated. So, who knows how to fix this, really, please?

I hate this little issue but my temporary fix to load to FB straight from the gallery is to just take my pics with the camera held in a landscape position. You can still pull the menu option to share while holding the phone this way. For me the issue is remembering that the ATT symbol needs to be on the left so the pic isn't upside down.
I've had a few snotty comments on FB about my pics about my "fancy" phone not being able to take photos correctly. Not the issue AT ALL

Hi all. I'm new to Android and was looking for a solution to this issue when I came across this thread. Just wanted to post something I found. Just like everyone else, if I take a photo vertically it will share horizontally no matter if I rotate it in-phone or not. However, if I take a photo vertically and upload it to Dropbox via the Android Dropbox app (or click "share" and select "Dropbox") it shows up on my computer with correct orientation. This surprised me. I assumed the camera was tagging everything with a horizontal orientation, but if that was the case it would come through Dropbox sideways, right?
