Help Anybody else's Strat act all kinds of buggy when plugged into charger?

Question: Do you charge through your laptop/computer or plugged in the wall? Back when I had an Ally and had to get a new charger, if it was plugged into my laptop to charge it did a lot of what you mentioned, but if it was plugged into the wall it worked fine. Also vice versa, if it IS acting up in the wall try plugging it in to a laptop to charge & see how it works.

Had my Strat for 2 weeks today, and just tonight I noticed this. I had an original Droid replaced for this behavior when it was off the charger. The new one only did it on the charger for more than a year, but a few weeks ago it did it off the charger as well. That was one reason I got the Strat.

From what I've read, this can affect the iPhone as well, and any other capacitive touchscreens. I have reason to believe humidity in the local environment greatly influences this behavior.

Try touching the bezel surrounding the screen (the black-chrome part) with one finger or your palm while using the touchscreen; this seems to help with both my phones.

I have this problem too. When it"s charging it'll put random letters in (when using the onscreen keyboard) and it'll double up letters too. Also, when I touch the screen I've noticed it's way off. But this only happens when charging. I've also tried on different chargers and the same thing happens. Even now as I'm typing this, the phone is plugged in. The slide out keyboards lights keep flashing and there is a major lag between when I type and when it appears on the screen.

Verizon keeps telling me I'm the only one with this problem.

If my Strat is plugged into the stock charger that came with the phone, it acts like a crazy person. The touch screen is unresponsive, random apps launch, etc. etc.

If I unplug it, it's fine. If I use a different USB cable/charger (my wife's Droid 3 charger, for example), it's fine.

What gives?

Is your Strat laying on a flat surface when it has these problems? If I plug in mine, and lay it on a flat surface, it gets all kind of buggy, but it only acts that way when it's plugged in. If I unplug it and lay it on a flat surface, no problems.

I've seen the same problem. But get this:

I plugged my Droid X into the Strat's charger (w/ the matching Strat cable) and it started to act funny as well! I couldn't type my pin to unlock the phone. I switched chargers, but used the same cable (didn't have a spare USB cable handy) and still had a problem!

Could it just be the cable? (using a completely different cable with the non-strat charger obviously didn't have a problem). I'll try strat charger and a different cable tonight on both phones.

I recently experienced the same problem, and after playing around with it using 22 different cables in 3000 different configurations it came down to one thing. The OEM plug, not the cable. Any cable plugged into the OEM charger housing/plug caused the screen reaction time to frazzle while plugged in to a wall outlet. Bottom line is that if you are experiencing this and you've determined that it's the OEM housing/plug, you simply got an OEM piece that was cheaper that dirt. Even the OEM stuff today is complete garbage. Better off getting a 2 dollar charger off Ebay and forget the "warm and fuzzy" feeling you once got having all OEM accessories. Really, they're all garbage now, unfortunately.

sounds like they are just trying to get out of fixing a problem to me, otherwise the phone would have to have a way to detect the different charger, and either not charge off USB or alert you that charging off USB could cause problems.

I've had 4 Statospheres now and none of them worked with any other charger and the guy in tech support was pretty clear when I talked to them. They have "NOT" and don't plan to sign off on the standards for cell phone chargers using micro USB.

He clearly stated that "you have to use a Samsung charger and use of any other charger will void the warranty"

well i use all sorts of chargers with mine without any problems and ill be damnd if im going to buy extra chargers from samsung when i have other chargers which work just fine

and i actually checked all the owners manuals for the phones in my family (my strat, my moms droid 3, my sisters casio commando and my dads lg 'dumbphone', and all of them have a line in there to only use OEM chargers and that third part chargers will void your warranty, not that there is any way i know of for them to check this)

You're right, every product makes this disclaimer. I am stunned that everybody has different results when using other chargers. I am on my 4th Stratosphere in 5 weeks.....some of them worked with off brand chargers, some wouldn't work with the same charger.

I guess all cell phones are pure junk.....even the $400-$500 ones!

i was also thinking about this(and only sharing for another point of view on this), and if using another charger voids the warranty they why do they claim you can use the USB connection to transfer files, well as soon as the phone gets plugged into the computer it starts charging, nothing you can do to stop it.

just seems off to me that they designed the phone to function this way and then claim only their chargers will work with it.

i've been searching around checking on this problem.

both of my roommates got their stratospheres around the holiday, and they both have this same problem. each phone has its own quirks, but both are doing while they are plug into the wall charger.

i'm going to check with some of the suggestions mention and see what might help.

thanx
