Tweetdeck for Android

I've used most of the different twitter programs. Right now I am using TweetCaster. It just seems to be the fastest to refresh. I usually do manual refreshes and not automatic.

I thought Touiteur was nice but it was so slow to refresh compared to TweetCaster.

I have also used Seesmic and Twidroid and I like them well enough too. I could eventually switch back to one of the others but the speed is keeping me on TweetCaster for now.

I have to ask, what on earth is the direct messages all about in tweet deck?

Im New to it!!

Direct messenger is a feature within Twitter

"Direct messages are private messages sent from one Twitter person to another. You can only send a direct message to a person who follows you. When you receive a direct message, we save it in your direct message inbox, accessible from the Direct Message tab in the sidebar in your home page. Set your email preferences to notify you by mail if you have a new message"

Thank you, I've been to both of those pages, they really don't clear much up for me. What is a 'column'? All I want is the ability to follow the Twitter people I'm already following, and I can't figure out how to follow more than one. The Facebook feed is based on what?? Maybe I'll just go back to individual programs.

ETA interesting what happens when you make me mad enough- ok, I figured it out. Not that there's anything intuitive about it, at all! Now that I've got Tweetdeck on my PC I see exactly the feed I wanted to see on the Android, it's the All Friends listing - without any of the Facebook stuff in it. Is there a way to get this feed on Tweetdeck/Android? I'm now realizing you have to add individual columns - and figuring out that I had to click on My Name Favorites, then the little person icon at the bottom of a mostly blank screen, then on All Friends (also near the bottom of an almost blank screen) and then select only the Twitter people I want to follow - really, there has to be a better way! Does the Tweetdeck developer follow this thread, I wonder?

P.S. This isn't meant for any of the helpful people in this thread, it's just utter frustration pouring out.
